We've done lots of testing in years past, attaching bins to a variety of cage configurations. These cages are NOT good as main cages. It would work for a very temporary cage for overwintering a wild mouse, but if you plan on keeping it forever get a 10 gallon tank or larger. Or create a bin cage if you don't think he/she would be a chewer. This would not be a good cage for a hamster even for temporary. They're great to attach to bin cages or tanks though. Hamsters require 450+ square inches of unbroken floor space, but the bigger the better.

If you are just saving it, sure. But I would not keep it in there forever because it is far too small for a mouse. And depending on the gender you will need multiple mice. Keep males alone (only one to keep from fighting) keep females in groups two-three or larger.
@lauren32664 жыл бұрын
ツGøldë Your extremely incorrect seems your just getting your information from the pet community rather than looking at the actual research.Multiple studies showing cage size has no significant effect on mouse welfare and that they even thrive in cages as small as 144sq inches.Also that 450sq inch ‘minimum’ is based on purely opinions and had no facts behind it.Another study done back in 2009 found that modular tube cages caused less stress and stereotypical behaviors than standard cages that where even larger than the modular ovo cage.Id recommend doing actual research rather than going off what the gurus say👍🏻

Hi Janie, I don't use or recommend this cage as the only cage for your hamster. We have it connected to a village of habitats. It is very easy to clean as the parts come apart easily and go back together without any problems. Most Dwarf hamsters are solitary, but robo-hamsters from the same litter and of the same sex often get along very well. With respect and based on actual small mammal biology, small spaces give them a profound sense of security. You don't have to take my word for it, you can connect your tubes to wide open spaces and bins etc... you'll quickly observe that they seek the smaller spaces most of the time. Easy to prove, no need to take anyone's word for it. Regarding the back curve, pain, arthritis? I'll need a scientific study proving that... but you just won't find that.
