Well this is exactly why Laraque isn’t in a management position, this is terrible. Like you said, the Habs don’t need the cap, we’re not in a position to contend. So why does he think that giving up our heart and soul, a young promising player and a potentially decent pick? Just to get $6.5mill off the books when the team doesn’t need it. Brutal.

Maybe if it were a few years down the line and Montreal's rebuild is a huge success and they're looking to make a run as a contender a deal like this could be worth it for that free cap space, but as of right now, absolutely no way in hell.

Gally as much as i hate his salary at the moment fully earned it by being payed under par for the majority of his career, it's sucks in the now but in a way it will help when he comes off the books to sign or resign newer players. I fully hope Gally retires as a habs. I'd trade Anderson instead in a heartbeat

Nah, they can't spend the money this year. He was somewhat useful on the ice last year, great off ice. There's only 2 more years left and could be bought out next year and still save a bunch of money. Don't move on him until the money is needed. Cap situation is fine.

I like Trey Fix-Wolansky on CLS, He is blocked and lacks size but He can really score , I keep waiting for a Team to look past the size and give the Guy a real chance , Be a really good 3rd line scorer on a Team , They should at least get a Guy like that and another young Player , CLS has a pretty good system.

Gally is the type of player who can win you the cup , in that one important moment, even though you're clogging up 6.5 Mil now , it might be a well spent 6.5. Larocque has been punched in the head one too many times.

Funny no matter how you work it it still does not sound like a good deal for CBJ. How would he help Columbus? The point is to make your team better. And if you got him you will have to play him. He is a borderline NHLer at this stage of his career. I suppose you can get another decent pick. But are the Jackets looking to take a step backwards? Are they again in rebuild mode.? We would have to lose Owen Beck to dump Gallagher? Still three years left but we probably need to just wait this contract out rather than give up assets. Montreal wont be great in three years. Giving up a first to get rid of him is ridiculous for a rebuilding team. It's good to get rid of these contracts if they can but not at any cost. It is a pretty bad contract. I wouldn't take him on or Anderson or dvorak or armia. .

As a CBJ fan I mean this is likely what it would take to move 6.5 mil AAV for 3 years. However, I would say it wouldn’t be for nothing. I could see the Jackets possibly adding Sean Kuraly and maybe TFW in this deal. It did take us giving up a 2nd round pick for you to take Laine. Laine is by far a better player at this stage of careers and one year shorter contract.

This discussion ends with Gallagher's 6 team no trade list. Gally like anyone at this point in their career wants to be traded to a winner, so the Jackets are sure to be on his list. But MTL (like every single franchise in the League) has contracts that will be a problem and Gally and Anderson are both unlikely to age well. As well, although Hughes has managed thru paper moves to maximize the LTIR to 100% on Price's contract, I'm doubtful that he can pull that off in 25-26 when the Slaf and Guhle extensions kick in.
