Montembault won gold at the 2023 WC with a 93.87 save percentage and 1.42 GAA. Give him a decent team and he can compete.

My view: Montembault, in a few years, in a cup contending line up, will become the David Savard to support a young star in the net.. a solid #2 goaltender, who can rank up to #1 if injuries

If Harris is traded before the camp, Matherson, Savard, Guhle, Xhekaj, Hutson, Struble, and Barron. If Harris not traded, Matherson, Savard, Guhle, Xhekaj, Hutson, Harris and Barron. Struble will be standing by until trade. Mailloux will be called up after someone injured.

Harris is a more known quantity, his trade value is probably closer to his ice value vs Barron. So I think he is the first to go.

I think Dobes is better than Monty. I think short term Dobes and Primeau can do more(not contend but better overall) Let another goalie prospect take the AHL tandem role and bump Dobes up. Also if Savard does go either Reinbacher or Mailloux gets a long look. Habs have too much depth on the left side so Hutson gets a look in the first 10 games but idk if he truly earns the full season with his lack of conditioning(he doesnt weigh enough to be a strong defender)

I think Hutson will never play a game in the AHL during his career. Unless it is for conditioning after injury.

Possible but remember his NHL game is still very raw in the fact that he hasn't matured at all to NHL ice or physicality yet. He is still a small defenseman. However in the 2 games I seen he looked very ready and that's a great sign. But who knows. I dont wanna spread negative energy around him but even Cole Caufield who was the favorite for the Calder is his class was sent down. He had 1 goal in 30 games. Coaching played a part but also his level of effort and maturity did.

Goal tending was good the coaching for helping the D zone and goal tending was horrible they got to start teaching at defensive zone structure now and playoff hockey this coaching staff the way they want to coach will never win playoff hockey

Monte proved that he can be a #1 for the next few years...do not forget his gold metal world's performance. He has done great for one of the worst NHL teams still in an early development mode. So far Monte, Suzi, Slav, Math, andGuhle are the pieces to build around while their hot young D develop, and Dach pans out.

Crazy idea....maybe they could consider moving Lane to a forward position idk how well that would work but he is clearly very gifted offensively

It's a possible idea but with the level of talent he has made at his position I don't think it would suit him. He's not a guy who leads rushes. He's the guy who starts rushes and that's what guys like Quinn Hughes are for. That's who I believe he will exactly replicate in the NHL.

Matheson would fit much better as a top 6 left winger.. And that makes place for Hutson as PP1 quarterback while the lineup gets much stronger

I think Monty is what he is. You could win with him but you need a great team in front of him. I don’t think he’ll steal a lot of games

Hey guys, not sure if this is the right way to do this but if you want a really good look at Demidov and hear NHL scouting say he has the most stick handling skills since Pavel Datsyuk. Ive never bought into the hype for Montembeault. Hes been a good goalie over the last 2 yrs but calling him a true #1 goalie is a stretch. I think Primeau has as much chance to earn the net this year but also dont believe Cayden as well has earned or has that #1goalie in him. I do think for the next cpl yrs they can be a good tandem. I wouldnt put that #1 name on either of them for their benefit not having the added pressure to live up to it. Clearly the Canadiens true #1 is coming from their prospect pool led by Fowler.

Scotty bowman said they need more size and experience in that linup !! L.a forwards were just killing the defence last year. Swat them off like flies!!!! When montreal was a powerhouse they had a mix of size and experience not a bunch of smurfs!!! Good luck guys

@@emmettebramble10 well, he can’t stop the high shot around his ear when he’s his knees and his teammate can. Primary adjusted to it, Montambault can’t seem to. Primeau can handle the puck better too. The team needs the goaltender to win a few of the one goal losses they had. So, let’s place some of the blame at the goaltenders feet. Statistically, 90.3% vs 91% for Primeau, a sub 90% isn’t number one goaltending numbers. We also just finish watching Price take an average at best for many years and making the playoffs because of him. Montambault isn’t a number one goaltender, especially at 27 going on 28
