Karen, I have used 3 M adhesive on foam board both before I paint and on the finished painting. I seal the paper using glassine and a brayer. This has worked well for me.

Hi Karen, thanks for all the information you share. I have a question: once the unmounted pastel is finished, do you mount it after. Sometimes I work on something that's a failure, and I'd rather not waste the materials. Also, I think that framing shops can mount unmounted pastels. Can you share your experience?

I’m wondering if you have any suggestions mounting a FINISHED pastel on Crescent Perfect Mount? I wound up getting a winner and it’s sold, but I’d like to give it to the new owner with this perfect mount. What do you think? Thanks so much!

Congratulations on your sale!! Personally I wouldn't try to mount a finished painting. I have both sold and framed many many paintings on paper that were not mounted at all. The framer will use framing tape hinges to attach the painting to an archival support board. To present the painting I would use artist tape hinges and attach your painting to foam core with a glassine cover. I have a video on shipping pastels that shows my method. Good luck and congrats!!!

You are so wonderful to post this. Love the videos. Is that your husband growling and umphing or snorting with the camera. LOL. I had a dog that would so that when he wanted my attention. My dogs could hear him and were funny to react to it. Serious question: What do you do about the dust? do you ever save it for smearing? Thanks!

I am using a piece of black foam core board that I get at the dollar tree. Usually double them up and clip them together and I reuse them until they are beat up then they are recycled.
