Hackers have changed how I feel about gaming

Hacking in competitive games has gotten so out of hand, and has been such a topic of discussion recently that I wanted to make a video talking about my personal experiences with cheating and hacking growing up. Tarkov recently in the news, and more specifically g0at's video talking about the Tarkov Wiggle has really shown just how prevalent hacking has become in online games today.
In this video we explore from the cheating days on the Game Genie, to the Game Shark, to Cheat Code culture, to the modern day of hacking in competitive PvP games.

That age of empires nostalgia hit. Was already bracing for Vice City and Goldeneye, wasn't disappointed. Best cheat by far though was the Oni cheatcode you got as a reward for game completion, you got Shapeshifter and could play as EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER in the game, including the broken robot that could barely walk and not attack.

John Draper aka Captain Crunch is a fucking legend. He found out that a whistle he got out of a Captain Crunch cereal box produced a 2600 hz tone that allowed him to make free phone calls. The late 80s and 90s were kinda the golden age of hacking. The book Masters of Deception is one of the best i have ever read about hacking. Actually one of the best books period. It is amazing how easily phone systems were taken over by teenagers and how little was done in terms of prosecuting them at the beginning. The movie Hackers, while not based on the book, pulls a ton from the book. Down to the hacker names of some of the characters in the movies.

usually cheat codes in recent game are console commands or debug tools that the developers forgot to remove. an example is in the CS:GO Source 2 beta where there was a debugging command that literally gave you wall hacks in official game servers.

This video is just the manifestation of the toxic idea of "If it ain't hurting no one, why do you care" mentality most default to because the answer to that is always "Not yet" and that "Not yet" always comes, always for everything.
