Hi great video! Just a question a lot of my old snes cart have dead batteries and the save features is no longer available, will getting a game genie help solve any saving issues or is there any hack to do save states so that I don’t have to start from the beginning of say super Mario world every single time ?

Unfortunately a game genie won't help if the battery is dead. You can carefully replace the battery on your cartridge though! I've never done it and it can be risky but you may want to look into that!

Some of those codes are accessing Mario power up states that are outside the normal game data boundaries, so the game is using whatever data is further ahead in game ROM and giving Mario a corrupt color palette.

Ah that's super interesting mate! It would have been cool if it unlocked some super powers or something, but the broken colour palette is cool too!

@Sonicgott: some of them you do not need hack to make it work, the power-up incrementation glitch still work in PAL version, well I do not know for sure, since I do not have the pal version to test it out, but if it does work while on the brown platform it is just one pixel behind shown at the start of this kzbin.info/www/bejne/bGqYi6CZdqiDq5I I did show abritrary code execution glitch, the abritrary code execution glitch using power-up incremenation on a pal version does not work. If you played the Nintendo switch version in region where it used to be pal version, the nintendo switch version no longer used pal version with does region.

I think I was using the US version? I have the old files somewhere, but generally where possible I use the most prevalent version of the game

My game genie came today and it won’t work with no codes or games. Real games not copy’s. No clue what the deal is. Saw some info about one chip units not working properly with them but I don’t have a one chip.

Hey man i love your videos very cool. I wanted to ask if you have ever found a super Mario world game genie cheat that would actually change the title screen. I did this once more than 15 years ago using a game genie and just changing codes all willy nilly not knowing what i was doing. But to describe it, it was like the starworld enemies (the Mario faces) and whole bunch of other weird stuff. But anyway, it SAVED the gameplay to the title screen and so when launching the game without the game genie it would play - automatically (as in the user did not have control) anyway... i doubt this could ever be recreated but if anyone could I bet you could.

Thank you! That sounds like one incredible cheat code you got going there! I've never seen anything like that off hand other than playing on hacked roms of the game. I'll definitely keep an eye out though!
