Hacking to the Gate - Steins;Gate OP [Piano]

Steins;Gate is a true Anime classic and also one of my favorite Anime series of all time and I have lost count how many times I have rewatched it already. It also brought us many memorable memes like El psy congroo, Tuturuu~, Dr. pepper and the Nixie tube clock aka the divergence meter. I might be 9 years too late, but here is finally my piano arrangement for 「Hacking to the Gate」 - the Opening song of Steins;Gate!
This song was a little bit more difficult than usual to arrange because the second verse and second chorus are almost identical to the first one and I have to think of various ways how to avoid sounding repetitive on the piano. The left hand in 01:40 is playing in a higher voice range and it's less rhythmical, compared to the left hand in the first verse in 00:16. Interestingly, the right hand pattern from the very beginning in 00:04 serves quite well as the left hand accompaniment in 01:53 and it gives the piano a certain floating sound.
Since Steins;Gate is an Anime about time travel and different world lines, I also tried to simulate it on the piano during each repeat of the chorus. The first chorus is played in the high register, the second chorus is where the "world line divergence" is happening and the melody is played in two different voice ranges in 02:30. The third chorus in 03:46 has a right hand tremolo, imitating the ticking of a clock and the final chorus has an additional melody in the left hand in 04:00, simulating the "world lines", who are converging together. A similar effect is also audible in the outro part in 04:12, where the melody [C-B-G-G-A] is being repeated in rapid succession in different voice ranges.
Last but not least I also included a short musical Easter egg in the bridge part starting at 03:10. Can you guess which Soundtrack I am quoting in this part?
Alright, that would be everything about Hacking to the Gate. But I have a feeling, I can feel the presence of another "me" in a different worldline. I wonder why....

One of my favorite anime of all time along with one of the most memorable openings! My hype was understandably off the charts when I saw the notification Since the song can be a little bit repetitive I was wondering what you'd come up with, and sure enough, starting from 3:00 the arrangement went from great to absolutely fantastic, Gate of Steiner!! ;-; What a lovely easter egg, and it doesn't sound exactly like the track but it's still recognizable enough while being distinctly your take on it, I love it. 3:46 made me think "we're running out of time!" and the entire finale in general threw me right back into the story, especially with the echoing voices starting from 3:59 reminding me of the time travelling mess of the later episodes, what a climax! You nailed this one Animenz, thank you, again! Also that's one VERY cool clock, I'm sure it helps keeping track of the timeline

Just watched the anime including SG0 and the OVAs/movie and must say it truly flashed me in how fine and precise the plot is with a very logically built system how time might work and great characters with memorable quotes. And now this arrangement just happens to come along bringing back the intense feeling of the anime. Your arrangement really had a nice and fitting vibe to it with it’s left hand repeating melodies and the lead up to the third chorus bringing in the gate of Steiner OST. I realize that Animenz is actually John Titor. He time traveled in 2036 back to 2020 to help us in this difficult time. He probably first tried so hard to fix 2020 but every time he came back, something worse happened. From COVID to the gender reveal fires, it was just a sad ending. However, he did not give up. He said to himself “there must be a way to help people of 2020” and then there was a spark. The divergence meter went up by 0.00231 as the best Steins;Gate cover appeared. So in conclusion, Animenz must be John Titor.

Fact: at its peaks, the music of Steins;Gate out-epics every other franchise in anime. I'd certainly be curious to see if the scale of a track like "Skyclad Observer" could be adequately conveyed through a piano alone. Such well orchestrated piece as usual. Love this anime piano community in KZbin, a pool of extremely talented pianists support and appreciate each other; it is so different from real piano world. Hope the whole societies can be as peaceful and supportive as this, life would be much better. 😃
