You'd be amazed what you can do with a manual hacksaw. If you have the space there's nothing wrong with having 2 frames around... one with a 24 & another with a 32tpi blade. If you often cut bigger stuff, another with an 18tpi. 32tpi blades are by _far_ the most overall useful. Get good high tension frames & name brand blades... like Starrett blades. Don't leave big tension on the blades in storage... they'll snap after a while just hanging there.

Excellent points. And detensioning would be important here with the high pressure.

My favorite high tension HS is a Lenox but rarely use it now since I bought a Milwaukee deep throat port-a-band

Really most of the things on the Klein one, Lenox is already doing. Cantilever tension system, blade storage up top (different way to access it though). The standout feature, I'm not sure whether to call it innovation or not because it depends on how useful it really is, but that endpoint attachment for blades.

I have this Klein hacksaw. I could find only two options that are possibly above them: The Lenox 12132HT50 High Tension. And the Bahco 325, this may be the best in class.

I bought one of those craftsman when they first came out. I always hated that red plastic adjustment knob. That Klein is very reasonably priced. I still use my craftsman to this day, but i think I'm going to upgrade. Thanks for the info, Doc.

My late father's old "Millers Falls #99" hacksaw is now with me. Still works great. No need to replace, but that blade storage on the Klein.....niiiiice.

This mechanism has been around for over 20 years. My old Klein 701-s has this same Cantiliver mechanism, it's the best hacksaw ever made in my opinion and Bahco still makes them too, it's the model 225-plus. I'm sure the ergonomics on this new one are great, but that rubber isn't going to last forever.

The Snap-On hacksaw is identical to the Bahco 319 - apart, no doubt, from the price.

Have you seen the handle that takes sawzall, jigsaw and hacksaw blades. Really handy

That thumbscrew could get in the way if you need to cut near the ground or a wall. Also that handle is pretty high above the blade line. Normally you want your arm as close to that line as possible. Hard to tell if those are big issues without living with it for a while…

Two things...first, the blades available today totally blow away what was available years ago. Example: the MW Torch blades for metal, with carbide teeth - amazing. Second, manual vs. electric - I've got a drawer full of hacksaws and blades going back 50 years or more but I don't remember the last time I used one. Between the compact cordless bandsaws and the one-hand "Hackzall" saws I don't have any need to use a manual hacksaw, or any interest in doing so. And when things get tough, there's always a full-size Sawzall. That's all IMHO/YMMV, etc.

I honestly forgot I even own a hack saw. I don’t think I’ve used one in 5+ years My porta band and recip saws have taken up the tasks just fine. I’ll hold on to my hacksaw as there may come a scenario where it’s the only tool that’ll work

Actually had a hacksaw frame similar to thie "new" klein design some 5 years ago. It was made by an asian company (originally not chinese). Granted the klein design is more refined but the principle is the same.

Still prefer the bacho high end one which has a push lock once tension is set so no awkward knob, Bahco 325 Ergo Hacksaw 300mm

but my basic hacksaw yeah around your lowest level one works. Sure I like the Lenox one, and now I'll consider the Klein, but overall, I'll use a great blade with my cheepo frame

made in china, that's a bummer but good product it seems, and at least profits going back into USA company. The blade storage is pretty important I'd say. Everything being convenient and good ergonomics, that's a win.

I have the Dewalt McGiver like 5 in 1 hacksaw. DWHT20547 With that said not sure where it is as I probably haven't used a hacksaw in close to 10 years plus 2 house moves. I did like it when I used except I had to look online for instructions as I used so infrequently.

They have pruning saws like for lawn work as well. It's simply utilizing their ownership of Bahco, and very possible there's an exact replacement in the Bahco catalog for cheaper. A hacksaw makes more sense than a pruning saw from an automotive-focused company at least.

If you're really looking for a good heavy duty frame look into the Crescent Nicholson 12" 4-In-1 Pro Series Hacksaw Frame - 80975 it does the jabsaw thing and folds into a more compact saw as well(and includes blade storage)
