One of my favorite war movies (or movies set during WW2) from the past decade.

I enjoyed your reaction to this film but more the reaction to Desmond himself. He was such a great man that not many young persons know anything about. Maybe if we taught more about men like Desmond Doss we would have young men shooting classmates and teachers 😔 This film shows what one motivated godly man is capable of….

also the part, looking for his bible was also true, not like in the movie, but after the ridge had been take, the full platoon went looking for his bible and found it, but the movie was close enough to sho that respect

i will also im ashamed, that i serve in the UK army as a medic late 80's, and it took a movie for me to hear about desmond, i never knew, so i did research into him which i have left in other comments, that probably only scrathes the service. back in late 80's when i served, we had a weapon, it was sub machine gun, we didnt do much target stuff, we were more trained onweapons to make them safe, and wounded solidiers there weapons went with them, but i know the minute i fired my weapon, i was free game, we are still treated as free game by an enemy, so having arms does us no good to be honest

@@SiblingsReactandDrink yes i did, as i said, i served in the UK army as a medic, never heard of desmond, which to me is shocking, not just form a UK point of view, why would i, but we are allies, have that special realtionship, then find out, america does not know, the world does now, thats the main thing

That's the power of faith: When the Good Lord is with you, nothing is impossible. God bless Desmond Doss and his family! God bless all the courageous veterans with nerves of steel who risked everything and sacrificed so much to protect our countries and preserve the freedoms we enjoy today! God bless all the souls - military and civilian - that we have lost in times of war! God bless America! God bless us all and grant us peace!

Re: targeting medics: yes that’s true, as the one who told Doss “N*ps put a premium on shooting medics.” It’s considered a war crime or against rules of engagement (sorry I don’t know the proper term) - but the Japanese military of the time didn’t care. It’s also against the rules to wave a white flag as if they’re surrendering-and then flinging grenades at their enemy. But yeah they’re more effective if nobody is alive to help the wounded.

While training everyone else got Sundays off; Doss worked on Sunday. Wanting the Sabbath off was asking for equal treatment… it’s just nobody SAW him working on Sunday bc they were off. It didn’t need to be the big deal they treated it as

O ator Hugo Weaving fez um papel primoroso nesse filme! Esse cara passa despercebido, mas qualquer filme que ele atue, se você o tira, o filme morre! Esse cara á um excelente ator!!! Veja a cena 44:05 , olha a intensidade desse cara atuando!

some little facts that are not show, or told, Its a movie, I served as a medic in the UK it was beleived that desmond save in his army creer 125, but this could not be taotal verified, so they stuck as 75 for is medal of honour citation, also, desomd did not eat meat, he ate coconuts, while gave sone nutriants, it also gave him bad diaoreahea(spell check), also that scene you saw with the sniper, while pretty true, the guy was talked to after the war, he said, he had desmond in his sights, but his rifle would not fire, the stretcher scene, while true, desmond was also shot in the arm, shattered it, while being stretchered, he got off the stretcher, for more wounded soldier, while waiting he used a rifle to splint his own arm it was deemed. not to put everything in the movie that desmond did, for the fear, it would not be believe by the public audience, so they settled on showing part of his war efforts

I found this out. It's actually a myth that the tanks on the flame stores would explode. It would have to be ignited by a tracer type round at that point, and the japanese didn't have those really.
