Hey guys great work as always. The way i do them at work for the ford or any oil pan with no drain is to work for rom the back of car forward. So have the drain tray at the back and remove the bolts then as i work towards the front i slowly let them out as the pan drops. Should be abel to get nearly all except yhe front 3 without to much coming out. Then as u slowly loosent the front ones u can control how much the oil spills out. It get the bulk of the oil then just remove the last couple and there shouldnt be to much oil left and hopefully shouldnt spill as much. There plenty of ways to do it this just works for me, also a bigger container or tray may help with less mess.

Might have been an idea to drain as much fluid from the torque converter as possible. When you start it again the contaminated fluid from the converter will go through the rest of the transmission now.

Yeah we did that, as much as we could anyways, not a lot came out

Trick to the transmission is to weld a drain bung into the pan when you have it off for future oil changes

When changing the transmission fluid by allways keeping the back of the pan lower then the front at all times undoing the bolts from back to front work your way around the pan so it tilts and you get to a point were you can tilt the pan wile still having the front bolts holding the front of the pan up and get most of the fluid out of the small lip of the pan making no mess
@vigilante3513 жыл бұрын
I just changed my trans filter in EF on car ramps. I undid all but 3 at the front of box to begin with. Then gradually undid the remaining 3 so the pan ended being on an angle and titled to rear corner. And the fluid basically poured out of the rear corner into oil pan with no mess.

Trans pans I always undo the front three then work side to side so the front comes down first and let it drain out as you undo the rest of the bolts 🤷♂️ still always makes mess tho 🤣
@matthewazzopardi41053 жыл бұрын
hey legends, My old man is a mechanic and the way he does a transmission service without washing the floor in the fluid is to start taking the bolts out in one corner and work your way out switching from side to side until you reach the last bolt in the opposite corner, be careful if the gasket isn't strong enough to hold the pan you might need to hold it so it doesn't drop and splash but work your way out until the last bolt is the one in the opposite corner to where you started and if the gasket is good you might need to give it a gentle pry with the screwdriver to break the seal while holding the pan and then let it down slowly with the drain pan underneath on the transmission jack or an oil drain pan if you boys have one and once it has drained mostly you can push it back up and while holding the pan, undo the last bolt and its off without a mess, keep up the great work boys, always excited to see a new episode each week
@christopherorchard97343 жыл бұрын
Hey lads, i always take them out one end working my way to the other and in a case such as this where the pan is slanted start at the thin end so all the fluid runs out and leave one in at the opposite end until it stops running out
@BroomysGarage3 жыл бұрын
I remember when you put it in saying to weld a drain plug in the pan 🤣 won’t be the first time you’ll be dumping that fluid ! I have melted that nylon braided hose before same as you after just 3 short transbrake pulls with the fan not running. Spat the line out the fitting and 100+ psi of trans oil pressure makes a nice mess. Make sure the hose doesn’t physically touch the box as well, as they are a huge heat soak and can lead to that happening as well.

great vid that dash looks mad as said below to drop transengine fluid remove all bolts bar 2 at front and 2 at rear loosen all then remove rear 2 slowly loosen front rear of pan will drop down draining fluid no mess !! Also a must when fitting trans is check torque convertor run out bolt convertor to flexplate turn engine 360 check run out with DTI and adjust as required refit convertor to trans bobs your uncle

Gents, sensational content, as always. Lesson learned from many skids at summernats in 40+ heat... mount the trans cooler up front. The radiant heat from the road pavement in summer or even warmish melb weather will bar far hotter than the air passing through the front of the vehicle whilst moving. I moved my trans and fuel cooler up front, no more trans issues. Under the car regardless of thermo or not doesnt get enough cool air flow. Also, space your hoses. Dont cable tie them. Use another cable tie as a seperator as you would in plug leads. The heat in the hot line will heat up the return line. À few mm gap make a massive difference.

Also have a tube of toothpaste near the sink as it’s great to get that gear oil stank out of your dirty fingertips !! ( don’t ask how I know ) - tomcat urine on gear knob in my moke 🤮 !!!

Weld in a drain plug will get your trnsnginfluid out next time you cook it. Or maybe look for a deep pan aftermarket one, holds extra fluid and likely comes with a drain plug already in it.
