Tony and Trisha take a look back at the first big mainstream found footage movie, The Blair Witch Project! In this movie review/podcast they will break down all the ways the film is still horrifying like how it leaves the creature to your imagination, how it uses sound to get under your skin, and how it blurred the lines between reality and fiction for audiences.
We even found some footage of our own! A tape featuring Mint Salad and Riley was discovered in the woods! What happened to them?
Found video footage tells the tale of three film students (Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard, Michael C. Williams) who've traveled to a small town to collect documentary footage about the Blair Witch, a legendary local murderer. Over the course of several days, the students interview townspeople and gather clues to support the tale's veracity. But the project takes a frightening turn when the students lose their way in the woods and begin hearing horrific noises.

Woods porn is not a joke When i was in middle school a friend told me he found something in an old abandoned shack, we went with some friends and found a shack literally and i mean LITERALLY filled with boxes of porn Like there was only a narrow path inside for you to walk and the rest was just boxes of porn. July 1999, Charlotte, NC. Close to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, all sun, no clouds. I did not look at any of their websites or reviews in advance. I saw Blair Witch Project at 1pm showing on a Saturday and was terrified until Monday. Congrats on their success and their style of horror.

Soooo....the footage was found buried underneath a 100 year old cabin by a group of college students that were out on an excavation for a class project. And according to forensic experts,the footage was not recently put there. In fact,it was under the cabin,undisturbed,for decades. And the theory is that Heather,Mike and Josh were actually transported back in time at some point in the movie because the house they went to at the end of the film was actually burned down in the 1940's.

I remember I was like ten when me, my dad and my cousin Ricky saw this movie opening night in theaters. I remember we waited all the way till the end of the credits when they give the "All the characters are fictional disclaimer" because we wanted to make sure it wasn't real. It was so hyped up and scary to me . That night I was legit creeped out of my mind. Great review guys please bring Trisha back soon!

This movie came out at the perfect time for me. I was a teenager and there was enough smoke and mirrors to fool me into thinking this was real. Not to mention the hype and marketing were crazy, you couldn’t escape seeing that Blair Witch Cross at every Halloween party for the next few years. It definitely was a divisive film though, it was one of those love it or hate it type of things, but those who loved it were swept up in the marketing. If it isn’t a classic, it surely reaches the height of a cultural touchstone which is impressive.

When I saw the OG Blair Witch in the theaters, I was on a 1st date & it was opening night (Friday). At that night, the gimmick was that it was REAL. Movie started, movie ended... everyone, including my date & I we shocked to the core. It was possibly one of the best movie experiences I have ever had. Sooooo awesome & memorable to say the least.

I worked in a movie theater, this was known as _The Barf Witch Project_ because many viewers got motion sickness from the shaky-cam. I had a strong stomach, so I was usually sent to clean up. It wasn't the first "found footage" film, but it changed cinema dramatically, inspiring others. Countless films owe their success to Blair Witch. It also had one of the first viral internet marketing campaigns. A lot of people thought this was real as a result.

I remember one time when I was either 10 or 11, me and a few of my friends ventured out in the woods near one of my other friend's houses and we went really deep to where you couldn't see any buildings or civilization and there was a big clearing and in that clearing and a disgusting mattress, empty beer bottles, old ripped up adult magazines and I'm pretty sure there were some used condoms. We got really freaked out and ran almost the whole way back to his house!

There's not always a path, theres multiple houses in the woods behind my childhood home that have no logical means of getting to a main road, I always assumed they were just from when Indiana was first settled in and abandoned before the town got built
