Had a great few hours at NORTHAMPTON with a nice surprise.

Decided to pop down to Northampton to film some freight trains and got a bit of a surprise.

Great video as always. I live in Northampton and thankfully we have quite a bit of freight. The problem with Northampton station though is the speed limit in both directions and the locos just idling through. If you go north of the town and park right a the bottom of a cul-de-sac called Kenstone Close you’ll find a footpath that takes you over two small river bridges and up to a foot crossing. There is good visibility here particularly to the south and you get the added benefit of the engines working hard up the bank. Sorry if you already know it, but worth checking out if you don’t!

Indeed it is good at Wilson's Crossing, particularly coming up the hill from the station.

Great video mate. Northampton is a good station for Freight but no Freightliner 70 I'm guessing they only do Southampton not Felixstowe or London Gateway

They normally use an overhead crane then put the boxes onto a lorry

Think your getting confused with containers. The crane must leave bits behind, unless he has a brush and dustpan.

@@antman09ful1 Only asking as the 37 is my favourite loco!! Memories of them taking coal wagons through Wormley, Herts, in the early 70s to Rye House power station. As very young kids we opened the gates on the level crossing for nursery workers and fishermen for a penny or so! We had a lovely old wooden signal box and I remember being allowed inside and pull the levers....happy days....
