Cool trick i saw for chasing with the multitool - put 2 blades on with the angled bits facing away from each other. Gives you 2 blades about an inch away from each other to get the perfect channel!

Ubiquiti POE switch will do the trick, just double check the voltage of the switch as they have different voltage models.

Polystyrene does react with PVC. It actually melts it. Never seen it actually get down to singles tho but I have seen it properly melted and sticky

19:00 Tenda has an unmanaged gigabit switch that has a PoE input and 4 gigabit output (about 30 W max), really cheap (under €30) but you need one PoE injector. Unifi as a better one, but you need a good PoE injector/PoE switch, and it's way more expensive (around €200). Also, I would still keep the full run from the APs to the garage and add have the PoE switch/injectors in the garage, all centralized. Otherwise, you can find PoE switches that will directly power your devices.

The platisiser is migrating from the cable to the polystyrene, this permanently damaging the cable and can make it brittle. You can look at the TL-SF1006P for the PoE or even better the SG2008P with a OC200 if you are going to do things properly, the OC200 will take care of all the AP and switch configuration for you.

it's not so much the warmth, it;'s the plasticizer gets sucked out of the pvc by the polystyrene... Had one where the cavity wall insulation had filled the fuseboard LOL

Spot on. Flat roofs often had this stuff for insulation. Pain in the ass stuff, especially back in the days of installing spotlights which got red hot!!!!

Polystyrene migrates the plasticiser from the cable. Over time the outersheath goes harder as it loses its plasticity.

I love JCC until it comes to floods. Never had so many issues until I used them. Pain in the arse things fail all the time. Collingwood all the way! :) I have pictures of a job where there was polystyrene balls in the loft and the 1mm had melted the balls to it. It was another warm summer/dark winter away from becoming a crematorium. p.s Where did you get your socks from?

Polystyrene is a nightmare and causes nothing but trouble many years after it's been put in especially if/when some renovations are getting done

I’m in Australia, polystyrene eats the cable when the cable gets hot ( summer temps 35°+) and outer sheath crumbles

With the POE, you would just need a POE switch with power and a network cable
