@@ariagia1 Guayla is traditional style of music arrangement meant for celebration and dance. Guayla comes from the word to run in Tigrinya because you shuffle your feet dancing counter clockwise. While moving your shoulders neck back and deltoids and neck to the beat. The music is played in jazz pentatonic style but it’s also played on the Tizita scale which is musical style of the late Saint Yared. The classification has a different name according to the culture. It’s a modern rendition of a traditional song. As you can see they are using modern music instruments but you can see the traditional drum called the Kebero, the Lyre/ Mini harp called the Kirar and the single string fiddle called the Chira Wata or Masenqo( it means the talking tail) Guayla does follow the rules of playing the beat in quarters. It’s in thirds. The rhythm is unique and melodic with an archaic sound.
