Dunno if they even read comments but Irish mythology is full of great stuff. There's Cu Chulainn who is basically Irish Achilles, son of Lugh Lamfádha the god of skill and craftsmanship. He single-handedly defends Ulster (Northern Ireland essentially) from the invading army of Queen Medb (yes, that Queen Medb who Shakespeare refers to in Romeo and Juliet), who has rallied the entirety of Connacht as an invasion force, because the men of Ulster are all suffering from a strange sickness that makes them unable to fight (a curse by the goddess Macha). The Tain Bó Cualgne is full of his exploits, including spurning the goddess Morrigan, the goddess of war, who keeps trying to fuck with his fights as he defeats champion after champion because she's pissed at him, and then challenges him to a fight and loses. He's such a badass that the only thing that can kill him is a violation of his Geas (in irish mythology, a Geas is like a gift which becomes a curse once a certain vow is broken, kinda like a spell), as he cannot eat dog meat in order to retain his powers, but he's unable to refuse an old hag's cooking since he was under her hospitality (violating hospitality is a BIG taboo in Irish mythology). So he basically is put in a situation where he cannot leave unscathed and this leads to his doom. I'm honestly sad Oney doesn't know about Irish mythology 'cuz it's full of amazing stories and interesting characters. The Tuatha Dé Dannan which is the main pantheon all have interesting stories rivaling this one. Also there's a bunch of mythological weapons of legend which were included in a bunch of different games like the spear Gae Bolg, a barbed spear "of certain death" which upon being thrown at someone, it hits and passes through "the byways and highways" of their body and fills their joints with barbs. There's also Lugh's spear which is bloodthirsty and basically fights for itself and "only by steeping its head in a sleeping-draught of pounded fresh poppy leaves could it be kept at rest" (kinda like Tyrfing from Norse mythology). Also Lugh's sling is said to be a rainbow and also the Milky Way galaxy. There was also Fragrach, a sword which when placing someone at sword's point would make them only able to tell the truth and unable to move, and also to place the wind at the wielder's command and could cut through any shield or wall and inflicted wounds from which no man could recover.

Hades is a fucking amazing game and Ive spent so many fucking hours in it, but because of how the game's structured its not really a great Roguelike. Its definitely the most coolest and the most story-heavy roguelike ever which is kinda crazy to even exist coz doing a story in roguelikes is kinda tough, but because they focused much more on the Dialogue system and the story, they kinda had to half-ass it on the Roguelike aspect (not that thats a bad thing, its just allocation of effort). having essentially only 3 areas, very few weapons to try, and after beating the game like 20+ times, you cant really experiment with anything anymore.. the modifiers help, but not enough i feel.. stuff like this is why Hades is a really fucking good game, but an average Roguelike. Noita on the other hand, even though Ive not really played as much kinda surprised me with how in-depth the wand building mechanic can get. I havent got much far into Noita but it just feels like there's infinite wands you can build and you can experiment for way longer. Im still hype as hell for Hades 2 tho. I really hope they improve on the Roguelike aspects.
@JonCheadle11 ай бұрын
@@smsryI agree. It's really great the first time, building your skill, learning the story. But after completing the game a few times, you soon realize there's not as much content as you might expect. I forgot they had a Horcrux talk in this series. I know a common thing is "why not just make your Horcruxes like individual grains of sand and put each on a different beach or desert" something that'd be extremely impossible to find. I think a simple way JK Rowling could've gotten around this is if part of the rule is you'd need to have access to your Horcruxes for whatever reason too. Like if Voldemort can't find them, like being pebbles at the bottom of a chasm with a ton of other pebbles, either they'd stop working as Horcruxes or he'd just die eventually.

I think the salmon of knowledge was a story from Finn McCool, which was like the Irish Hercules. It was part of his origin story and gave him the power to access any knowledge by putting his thumb in his mouth. Eventually he turns into a giant or something and throws a big rock and that’s why the Isle of Man exists and that’s pretty much the moral of the story.
@jackass57513 жыл бұрын
Ok yeah. It's a little silly. So that apprentice's name was Finn McCool. And he ends up using that knowledge to like, go on adventures and slay giants and he forms a bunch of followers with crazy abilities. And what the knowledge does is like, a mcguffin for every low point for the heroes. When they need a plan Finn goes and thinks and fidgets with his thumb and it like, activates the knowledge. And then they get a super plan that usually always works.

If I had to pick favorite gods of the Greek pantheon I would have to go with: 1. Hades because he actually isn't nearly as bad as he's made out to be in pop culture. He even acted like he didn't want to rule the underworld but really did want it because it was a cushy job. XD 2. Hephaestus: He is so underappreciated and is a brilliant smith for the gods which is just cool to me. He also gets treated badly for his looks and I've always been sympathetic for the guy. He deserves better. 3. Dionisius: He seems pretty chilled out and doesn't seem to really be bothered by anything or anyone. When I was in high school and took theatre classes we covered Greek tragedies and comedies. My teacher always referred to him as, "The Greek God of sex, drugs, and rock and roll." I will always love that description for how accurate it is. lol Side-Note: As far as Irish mythology goes I've always been partial to the story of Cu' Chulainn. I've always thought that the Fomorians were pretty cool, too. :D

God stamper was right about Irish stories that even the mythology of the salmon of knowledge falls into that category. "Ok boy we caught the salmon of knowledge now I'm gonna have you watch it while I'm out" then the kid touches the fish gets a blister sucks the blister "Oi why'd you eat the salmon" "what all I did was lick my blister" "yeah that counts too" *END OF THE MYTH.* Side note: Not gonna lie i love these types of stories so if you came back to watch this video, please share some myths that are similar to this I would love to hear more.
