Before this area, I didn't think Chronos was a compelling final boss. But when I saw the fields' boss I yelled "DEATH TO FRICKIN CHRONOS" all the way through Tartarus. Old crone made me fight best boi, I hate him.

They say one way to measure someone's character is to see how well they treat the family pet(s) To have little regard for animals is to have little regard for people, and in a way it helps ignite the drive to defeat the BBEG. Hades himself doesn't need that in order to motivate the player to defeat him; the player's desire to see Zag happy is motivation enough. Chronos's treatment of Good Boi Cerberus, however, can ignite that motivation not just for the player, but also for Mel, who at one point confesses to Hecate that she lacked the motivation to put an end to Chronos

i had chills exploring here for the first time. there's a sadness, a dread that's just rooted deep into the environment. and you're just left to wander and find where you're supposed to go, finding distorted structures and broken statues among the daemons, most of which don't even attack unless provoked. the atmosphere was presented so beautifully.

@@lumenox8541 that hasn't been my experience! for me they don't aggro until you do. obviously trying to grab trapped rewards aggros them too lol, def not talking about those ones to be clear. maybe your sprint boon is setting them off or something?

For a brief moment I fully thought you were implying darren korb buys all the instruments to make the tracks physically, and he expensed an entire pipe organ that’s now in a basement somewhere just to make the Pyre ost, which would sound ridiculous, but The Old Ways alone would make that a worthy choice.

this song is so cool and emotional at the same time, you can feel the desolation of the area, and in the 2nd part the despair of fighting our boi and it tries to depict he is in agony too :( masterpiece

If there's any area in this game that i would say is my favourite, it's this one. The encounters are unique, the enemies are challenging and fun, but the biggest motivation spike is the boss. As soon as i saw what the boss was, i swore to myself i will make the Old Man suffer. Death to Chronos.

One thing I love in this game is how many "boss fight" tracks are heavier/more intense versions of the level tracks. The transition is always so awesome. "The Necropolis" is a close seconds, but this version is just so sick. The perfect tune for fighting the guardian of the gates of hell (who is also a bit depressed).

Really love how this theme contrasts so heavily with the other areas. We just had a concert in area 2, and area 1 was basically us leaving home. This theme though really does feel chilling and depressing. The ruins of the statues really is the icing on the cake. Fantastic work.

when i glanced through the tech test when that was going on, they had left all of the music in. it's referred to internally as associated with the "mourning fields", a place in greek mythology where people with broken hearts roam. so probably something to do with that
