This is one of the things I fell in loce with Hades's lore, THE DIALOGUES. It just fells so, subtle, sensible, how their voices are just trembling with emotion, how Zagreus is just so soft when he cares. The hurt in Achilles voice when he tells about Troy and the end of the war... Dialogues are just making me fall in love with every single character. Except the Olympians aside from Hermes and Artemis (which never actually hang around Olympus and are delightful)

I admit I teared up a little at the first dialogue set. I just imagined the devastating rage he must have felt at hearing about Patroclus' death...damn. For Zag to warn him not to drown his sorrows... You know that all of the world knows of the love Achilles holds and know how it effects him even now. The fact that Patroclus was so tormented... Zag holds so much respect for them both. He wants both to find each other and be happy, you can hear it! You can also hear how much he holds Achilles up on a pedestal, not only as a hero but as a person. That's how you know Achilles has had such an impact on his life.

I think I reunited them around 60-ish run, and I took on it since run one: always talking/makings gifts to Achilles and to Patroclus any time I had a chance, they were my priority. So yeah, this quest takes a lot of patience. Keep going and you'll get there! Will see them laughing together in Elysium and interrupt their newfound happiness to get some jerky :>

I might add that after you've maxed both their hearts to the locked one it's just lots of waiting, talking and completing other quests. It does help to release Sisyphus and Orpheus when you can as well.

The first version of the Iliad I read took the Troy movie route and censored Patroclus and Achilles as family. I was so surprised in college to read an uncensored version! So glad that a bunch of gamers’ intro to these characters is so thoroughly romantic.

There are two ways to unlock this side story. This is the Achilles version but here's a little bit of how the Patroclus one goes: You meet Patroclus and don't who he is. Until one day he asks if we know someone named Achilles down in Tartarus, Zagreus tells him that he will try to remember or ask for him (acting as he doesn't know Achilles), and then mentioning to Achilles that this shade was looking for him, making Achilles tell the story to Zag and sending him to tell Patroclus that he is down there. I believe the way to get this is not getting enough good relationship with Achilles so he won't tell you his story with Patroclus before you meet him, so you won't know who he is. Or simply to not look at the book to not know Patroclus name.

Like I don't mean this horribly but Madeline Miller did not invent patroclus and achilles being in a romantic/sexual relationship. Its been concept since ancient Greece while also being explored and written about at the same time period the Iliad was written. I love song of achilles but she didn't invent the ship its quite literally thousands of years old lol

I was brought up with the idea that Pat and Achilles were cousins (from the horrible Troy movie). Now, as I grew into adulthood and learned the truth, I'm angry at modern media erasing their love for each other. It's truly bitter-sweet. To see their bond and longing in segments of this game is just so......liberating for them. Thank god this ends in them together even in death. Like this is their real feelings to each other as lovers in a horrible wartime tragedy. I love them and I love this game.
