Thank you for the detailed explanation of the bear crows. I’ve always believed you when you’ve said there’s a difference, though I’ve never been able to hear it for myself. There are players who insist there isn’t any difference and maybe that’s because, like me, they haven’t really tried to learn it. Time for me to do that! I think there will be a drop initially in the number of people who play OG TLD, but I think that Blackfrost will bring new players to TLD after finding and enjoying Blackfrost. I think that TLD is a game that once it has your heart, it keeps it. No, we would not have let you live down walking off a bridge while looking at the sunset.

Jen I have heard the difference in the crows when H pointed it out some while back, ( I think it was in CH and there happened to be a prop deer and just around the corner was a bear so you could hear the difference), but my hearing is not what it was when I was young and it is so subtle that I can't hear one and say Yep, that's a bear or not. I'll go to the mat for carrying one water purification tablet. I don't carry more than one, but you'll eventually run out of water and be glad you have it to get that water slightly faster

Branch math, you get 3 sticks, but it consumes one stick of fire time to break apart. So assuming ten minutes won't put out your fire, branches are worth two sticks.

Quiet apocalypse has always been what this game is about. I get my organized chaos from COD and I get my ADHD fix from TLD. I can't even imagine not playing this game

The art style is beautiful. Classy and classic. A realistic art style would have dated it so fast, like you said. Just look at some of the more "realistic" games that came out around the same time. How many are still being played and watched like this one? And I say that as someone who was and is a fan of some of those other survival games with more realistic art styles.

your title didn't lie, that apocalypse sure can be quiet! on a visuals note, something I've noticed in this episode, and in a couple others I'm pretty sure, is the dark corner in the bottom right of the video. is that a game setting you've toggled or something you've edited in? because I don't remember seeing it in *every* episode

Nope, that's an overlay that shouldn't have been on. Was switched off on my Streamdeck, but evidently I need to do a better job of visually verifying overlays are off even when the fancy streamer tech tells me they are.

Now that I'm streaming, yes, I'm sure I will get around to that at some point! I tend to reserve more sandbox-style and emergent-narrative gameplay for my recordings, and more scripted narrative experiences for my streams.
