If you don’t know (which is fine, we all start somewhere), then allow me to explain. These aren’t regular guitars, these are BASS guitars. BASS refers to a low, boomy, punchy type sound, and it literally refers to bass frequencies, low frequencies for something like 20hz or 200hz. For reference, the human ear has an approximate range of 20hz-20,000hz (this isn’t volume, mind you, it’s just a high or low pitch), and this range shortens over time as the human ear gets damaged. A BASS version of an instrument is similar to the original instrument, but has some notable differences in their construction that make it play much lower notes, usually 1 octave down. A 6-string guitar plays higher notes, going from lowest to highest, EADGBE, with the lowest note being E1 and the highest being E3. A bass guitar has 4 strings, they’re usually longer, their strings are SO MUCH thicker, and their tuning is EADG, with the lowest being E0. These are just their cali basses, or as I like to call them, baby basses. We just say bass instead of bass guitar b/c it is easier.

It’s actually a bass that starts at the 12th fret and goes even higher.

@@LucasJRice So it’s not in the bass register. It’s in the treble clef register. Like a guitars lower four strings only using fat strings on a short scale. Maybe I’m missing something but it’s not a bass as I understand it. Eadg four string guitar has been around for years but never caught on. Tiny Grimes used one I believe. Just having fat strings doesn’t mean it’s a bass.
