For all the ways that the "blocking" screwed you up in the early game, it was super generous blocking Chronos' attacks in the end game. Probably because the hitbox on his attacks is so big that it easily hit your special, and Chronos moves so fast that he always sniped you before you finished charging the omega. Either way, great job!

For anyone else that might not have known this (i didn't until i tested it just now), the aspect of charon's damage bonus does not get applied to the solar ring damage, only the omega cast's initial burst. The Furies arcana bonus gets applied to both though.

My ideal fix to the "gap between block and omega special hit" problem would be that you can hold the block as long as you want, you get to choose when the omega special comes out. So you still have the downside of having the vulnerability gap, but you get to time when that happens.

​@@d07RiVsome things are unblockable, you'd still be vulnerable from the back, and if you have the timer on at all then you're screwing yourself Theoretically it works to turtle away in a corner, but like... You could've done that with Apollo's Dash + Hermes' Dash and just dashing and sprinting around if all you wanted was to avoid damage lol

Activating any Hex Freezes the Enemies so you technically are Invincible during Activation... The issue is Chronos is immune to all Slow Downs and Freezes so all that Safety comes back to Bite you. 😳

Idk if anyone has mentioned this but you can dash during the small window Mel is vulnerable during the axe channeled special to avoid getting hit similarly to the axe spin dash tech or the spear spin tech from Hades 1. This will result in Mel casting the special in whatever direction she dashes in while using the dash I frames right before the channeled special comes out.

I think tranquil gain would be fine if you did not have to stand still for a second to start the magic regen. Standing still is already a big ask so I think if it had no delay and the numbers were tuned down a bit it would feel so much better.

@18:30 the Daedalus hammer you took you can channel on top of the mini boss mobs with armor and it instantly kills all their armor without actually casting the special fully

@@josh___something it is intentional design. the issue is that swing for special is too slow. getting hit after blocking is not fun. I think they'll likely speed up the axe recovery for special after swinging. It should be that you get punished after animation ends.

​@@Nighthawk20000 I have little issues timing my attacks and when I do have issues, most of the time I can see how I could've timed it better. You have to be deliberate. This isn't hades 1, the ethos of the game by and large is deliberation.

I just did a run with a similar build - at 4 fear, so not nearly as extreme, but I found that using a ranged cast from Hestia or Zeus worked really well. Charon Axe is one of my favourite weapons so far!

So certain moves are indeed unblockable in the game, the worst offenders being Hecate's ring, the pink-purple energy satyrs shoot out that tracks you and leaves behind a trail, fire from the barrel throwing guys on the surface, steam in oceanus, and polyphemus's grab. I think eris's bombs are also unblockable, but with AOEs you kinda have to block in a very particular way so maybe I'm doing it wrong

I just found today that you can block Eris' bombs, but you have to be blocking at the point of launch, and it didn't catch all of them, so still very risky.

Do you run 'Swift Runner' Arcana card for the 10% Sprint Speed or Instant Dash? I'm trying to figure out the specifics of making your Dash ''instant'', I'm wondering if it allows you to animation cancel, because there are many moves that lock you into an animation after you've cast it. Torch Specials are a perfect example (but not the only).

There's nothing I know of the Requires *Swift Runner* Specifically to Cancel any Animations. On top of that... I usually have it Turned off since it lowers your I-Frames if your Dash is Shorter. I genuinely don't understand why people would want it on.... Hermes/Apollo/Charon have buffs that allow you to run Faster without Nerfing your Dash. 👀

Charon is SO fun. It even works well with cast boons that don't get Omega bonuses, just cuz the base damage is so high.

My experience with +30% health is... Sorta mixed. I have to take it at 32 for boon-hungry/slower weapons, to make up for all the Vows you CAN'T take. I try to aggressively get Heroic damage boons or consistent magick restoration boons as priority #1.

I'm not sure if Charon axe + Apollo cast synergise that well considering it makes so you have to wait longer for the cast to end. I hope I'm missing something but while the damage was fine, the speed was not great.

@@GoXDS I forgot about it because blocking always gets me hit. Apparently dashing gives you a few s so I'll try that I suppose. Last time I used this aspect I just swapped Apollo for zeus at the end and did way better after, Just feels like too much work (and magic) for the payoff.

It's about making the cast end early and on top of that using both an omega cast and special for 20 magick, along with increasing its size and damage

That said, solar ring lasts for two seconds, and the time it takes to get out the first hit of the axe omega special is (from my rough stop watch counting) about 2.1 seconds. So from a very simplified raw damage perspective solar ring itself has to basically match the damage of the omega cast initial burst since in the time you're waiting for solar ring to end you could almost set up a whole second charon cast special cycle. Which I haven't checked the math on but I don't think it does without some pretty substantial rarity/pom/supplemental boon investment. That obviously isn't accounting for if you're hitting things with other moves while solar ring is firing or the extra magic you're burning by firing two omega specials compared to one, but I wouldn't be surprised if charon solar ring is very close in terms of damage output to charon without solar ring.

I just did some test runs and I had forgotten how nicely solar ring upgrades. With maxed Furies arcana solar ring needs to reach 20 damage per hit to match the omega cast initial hit (rare +1 pom or epic). Somewhat surprisingly, the aspects damage bonus DOES NOT increase the solar ring damage, only the initial omega cast damage. And if you get the special channel speed hammer and can support the magic for it, solar ring does get comparatively worse since you are now waiting nearly twice as long for solar ring to end as it would take to just set up another cast and omega special.

@GoXDS yeah solar ring is better than I initially gave it credit for, and the more random DPS checks I run on different scenarios the more amazed I get by how mathematically balanced a lot of things are in this game. Which is cool because it lets you make more decisions based on playstyle, in this case solar ring letting you play things a bit safer and no solar ring being hyper aggressive. For this particular build I thought you were doing a slight disservice to the aspect by assuming no arcana due to how powerful the moon card is (+100 base power to the omega cast burst), but it still ends up really close with I'd say a slight edge towards no solar ring that can definitely be made up with other damage during the ring firing or with upgrades to the ring itself. And solar ring does have the advantage if enemies have certain amounts of armor slightly higher than what a single omega cast can deal, though I've found that even through Oceanus a lot of solar ring damage is wasted by enemies already being dead long before the ring expires. With maxed Furies and Moon with your cycle time the cycle is 182 special + 400 omega cast + 312 rare solar ring over 4.78s = 187.03 dps. Without Apollo the 2.78 sec cycle is 209.35 dps. I'll add the omega crit chance arcana in just for the solar ring damage since the multi hits make that way more consistent and that's on average 46.8 more solar damage which is 9.8 extra dps for the solar ring cycle, or total of about 197 for the rare solar ring build. Side note, you can place the cast while channeling the special for as far as I can tell no penalty if you don't mind standing in it.

I haven't tried Chiron aspect but I hate the special so much. I greatly prefer Mel and Than axe. My highest fear run (and fastest run ever) was on Mel axe. Everything else I did on Than axe.

@@meph7425 i wouldn't say so. a lot of aspect are literal game-changers. Aspect of momus is infinity hp for staff. Aspect of Pen literally decides where you can use special dagger throw or not. Aspect of Artemis is significant boost of critical damage. borderline essential for melee dagger. Aspect of Eros vs Aspect of Melinoe decides whether ur using torches for primary melee or special spam. Aspect of Thanos vs Regular axe decides whether ur using Omega spin or not. Skull only has aspect of medea that is relevant, otherwise it is really bad. you can only ignore these aspects if ur just playing 0-15 fear runs but after like 20 fear, these aspects very important to winning.

Certainly like the concept of this aspect, but the execution leaves many thing to be desired. Not to mention that it has poor synergy with many cast boons, pretty much requires a certain hammer to feels good, and matchs up badly against sped up enemies. You feel really restricted when picking up this aspect.

Charon + Apollo has been my go to build, but God using the Insta Omega Cast with the vows that increase number of minions and how fast they are feel so much more punishing, like the second you launch the special, everyone is hitting you. Also "spitters" (whatever those antler worms are), they can eat a bag of dics, they always decide to evaporate my health bar, when by comparison Cerberus can't even hit me

Think of there's Spitters like Pedestrians when you're Driving.... They *ALWAYS* Have Right of Way. Or to be less Cryptic...don't push your Luck with a Spitter that's just About to Fire or if it's already Fired and you think you can absorb one hit then Kill it before it Fires the Rest.... As soon as those Orbs make contact with you... You get affected by a Massive amount of *Hit Stop* every thing else is free to move while that's Happening which is how can get hit by All 4 Projectiles when you tried to Take Action after getting hit by the first. So... Yeah.... I don't gamble with them anymore....
