Beautiful! Multiple video camera angles and close-ups of the choir might give more prominence to the singers, balancing some of the comments below.

Merci Lausanne!

I loved the resonance of the big church, but felt the choruses were sung in too sedate and gentle a manner. This is a powerful psalm which Handel set in his marvellous way … perhaps the French chorus lacked the gutsy intonation and strong consonants needed to sing in English? Nevertheless a most enjoyable experience.

It is a shame that fascists are unable to accept a range of interpretations. My complaint is with regard to the spelling of Georgi's name in the title. Why the Germans have adopted this RIDICULOUS affectation is beyond me. Georgi was Händel in his early days but he was in England when he wrote this and had dropped the umlaut, Händel in German and Handel in English having effectively identical pronunciation. If Georgi had seen his name written as "Haendel" he would have exclaimed, "What the ..... ?". It may be a coincidence but the original performance of this work was in a relatively small 14th Century church so was almost certainly more "sedate and gentle" than you are used to.. The subject matter is unfortunate. Here, we have members of the Satanic Cult rejoicing in the mass murder of those who didn't share their faith. "like as wax melteth at the fire, so let the ungodly perish at the presence of God" ..... not exactly Christian, is it ? It is in the same vain as, "Understand therefore this day, that the Lord thy God is he which goeth over before thee; as a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the Lord hath said unto thee." (Deuteronomy Ch 9 v 3) ...... MY CHRIST ! Give me Serse (Xerxes) with his lovely tree every time.

@@terryhoath1983 Terry, you are right: it’s Handel but in french part of Switzerland we use the name Haendel (Umlaut). GF signed Handel so it’s correct, of course for « anglo-saxon ». But we are frenchies. The origin from GH is in Halle (D) so I guess the both ortographics are available… Best regards

@@pascal.pilloud Thank You for your reply. It is unusual for French speakers to accept diktats from Berlin. That is where this Haendel thing comes from. They have come to recognise that the English keyboard has taken over most of the World and that their business partners are not prepared to install a German keyboard. The British and Americanese have, traditionally ignored German diacritics and have written "Gobbels" and "Goring". Because of television, British people use the German pronunciation, English is not phonetic so we don't care , BUT, British people are confused when they start to see "Goebbels" when their school history book spelt the name "Gobbels" or "Göbbels". You mention "Halle". Those of us who may be interested know the German pronunciation. The Germans have not changed the German spelling of it to "Harlair" ..... for the benefit of ignorant Americans ..... yet. Georgi (his pet name) was essentially English. He first came to Britain aged 23 and finally settled in London aged 27, and other than visits to Italy, and places in what we recognise as Germany today, and other places, Britain was his home for the last 47 years of his life. He is buried in Westminster Abbey. There was no accepted way of spelling in English at the time. He dropped the umlaut immediately and adopted the English form of his first Christian name, "George" but he spelt his second Christian name as both Frederic and Frederick. As the pronunciation of Händel and Handel are effectively identical and for the greater part of his life, he styled himself Handel, the "a" sound as "bateau" why have you not changed the spelling of "bateau" to "baeteau" and "gâteau to gaeteau ? "..... whether "gaeteau" should have a circonflexe, I am not sure. In 1713, Georgi presented a tribute for Queen Anne's 48th birthday. She didn't like this sort of thing and it is believed that she may never have heard it. The poor woman was past caring. She had been pregnant 17 times, 7 of them ended in miscarriage, 5 of the pregnancies ran to term, but the babies were stillborn, Of those who survived childbirth, all but one died before they were 2 years old . Her final pregnancy ended in miscarriage in January 1700. Exactly 6 months later on 24th July, there was a birthday partly for Prince William, her only surviving child aged 11 years. 6 days later, he was dead. We understand that Anne and her husband collapsed onto the floor in inconsolable grief. Anne's husband died in 1708. Whilst she remained active in politics, perhaps we can understand why, in 1713, she wasn't interested in Georgi's tribute. She would have regarded it as a piece of ridiculous nonsense. She knew that she was NOT an "Eternal source of light devine". Following the death of her husband, in her despair, she took to drink and ate and ate and ate, getting fatter and fatter She expired, or possibly exploded, just 17 months after Georgi made this tribute. On the video we see "Handel" but Mr Suzano entitled his upload "Haendel" Enjoy. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aH7YdHaYnJWelZI Although Geogi never spelt his name Haendel, and although YOU are not proper French ..... you are Swiss who speak better French than the French, I reluctantly accept that you spell his name Haendal. After all, we spell Genève as Geneva, Roma as Rome, München as Munich and Wien as Vienna. I spend half of my time in Slovakia (46 letter alphabet) so I say," Všetko najlepšie vám prajem a vašim. (Tous mes meilleurs voeux à toi et aux tiens).
