Another tidbit that ads to the Dino legacy, according to Carol Shelby, who considered Dino a close friend, Dino cared far more about road going sports cars than his father, so it's absolutely fitting that 2 of the best driving Ferrari road cars of all time bear his name. To quote old man Shelby, "...I sometimes dream about a world where Dino lived longer, in that world, Ferrari road cars might very well have lived up to their legend."

@@AI-qd4vb Shelby may be just a factory runner, but he's well humble enough. The Cobra will always be Cobra and for what it is, I see Shelby and then-Ferrari as friends of its time. And also, his legacy never stuck with just his brand. The Ford Mustang you know today would have never existed without him, and the GT40/GT, and the Cobra's spiritual successor, Dodge Viper. Now tell me how funny it is to have that much of a legacy of his as just a factory runner.

"It was the winter of 1918-1919, extremely rigid, I remember it with great sorrow. I was on the streets, clothes freezing solid on me. Walking through Parco del Valentino, after brushing away the snow with my hand, I let myself go on a bench. I was alone, my father and brother were no more. Despondency won me, and I cried" (Enzo Ferrari, on being rejected by FIAT) The name "Dino" meant everything to Ferrari. It was the legacy of his family, and in many ways, the way forward for the company he had poured his heart and soul into. With FIAT's backing, the company that had once rejected him, it meant that Scuderia Ferrari was safe and the work of his lifetime would go on. It was one last farewell to his son.

The V6 sounds really good from the camera on the Trunk Lid, under which the engine resides..... The V8, like Jason said in the podcast, sounds like a 4-cyl but a really good 4-cyl, and to me it sounds like a Honda Sports Car 4-cyl without V-TEC and a screaming high redline. Incredible work on the story, Jason, respect your and your team's effort behind the scenes that you put into reading through a lot of articles, books magazines and presenting it in a humorous yet informational way to the public. All that said, for what ducking reason did you stop Know It All? We all loved it, cos we got to learn and laugh through each one of those short videos that we get to learn important stuff that we'd have never learnt otherwise... And the icing on that cake is the way you explained everything... Simple language, easy to understand, funny enough sometimes to remember for a whole lifetime. All I ask for is to bring it back, because, that's probably the only way I'd love to learn car stuff while laugh till i get a stomach ache. Appreciate your effort guys!

To this day I still cringe when I re-watch that TG Cheap Italian Supercars bit and JC starts going on about how Hammond's car "isn't truly a Ferrari". First off, he's driving, more or less, a Citroen with a Maserati-badge in that film (gorgeous car, all the same), so he shouldn't be talking about badges. Secondly, it could say "Super Mario" on the badge of both the 308 GT4 and the 246 and they'd still be awesome cars. Plus: Hasn't the 246 been one of the most desirable vintage Ferraris, fetching ridiculous prices since ... forever? OTOH, I just checked current GT4 prices and those haven't *really* budged all that much since TG made that film. Even 3-liter examples in very good condition (judging from the pics and descriptions) can be had for 40k to 70k over here in Europe. It might sound a bit silly, but maybe that's precisely because of that TG-film where we were being told that the GT4 was "the wrong car". Oh, and lastly: Let's not forget which car in that film was in the best ... err.. least worst shape and did last the longest and that when it went out, it didn't suffer a disintegrating engine. I seem to remember that Hammond bought that car off the production company afterwards and restored and kept it. The Maserati OTOH went to a scrap-yard dealer - I do remember finding it for sale on their website back in the day and they did, BTW, confirm that it was an actual SS, not a regular Merak with an SS-badge.

It's almost as if real car enthusiasts don't take what Clarkson says as the absolute truth. Sadly, I don't think that was even the purpose of the original Top Gear. It's blindingly obvious that the viewers were expected to take everything said (by any of them!) with a pinch of salt. Sadly, not everyone did, and are taking what Clarkson said as the undeniable truth.

The reputation that the Dino has as the most beautiful car to come out of Maranello is well deserved. I used to see them around the high-rent barrios of London but the best view ever was from the control room window the recording studio 'The Manor', Virgin's country recording studio in Oxfordshire Friends of mine [recording as the instrumental duo Jade Warrior] hired Steve Winwood to add some keyboard tracks to their album 'Waves'. Winwood arrived in his 'Corsa Rossa' Dino. In 1975, this car had no equal in drop-dead gorgeous looks. However, Mr Winwood got a bit snitty on acoount of the dusty pawprints on the engine cover that the cat had made which had sussed that this was a particularly warm place to snooze. He should have been thankful that the same idea had not croseed the doggy brain of the resident Irish Wolfhound. His comment at the end of the session was that his fees 'woud buy the wife a new fur coat'. Not these days, Mr. W.

Dear Jason, I've been watching your videos for a long time, I really love the texts as you present them, but on this one you really outdid yourself! Congratulations! Greetings from Brazil.

Excellent video and history on the Dino. I also enjoyed the Rover 3500 cameo appearance also connected to Ferrari.

Great stuf as usual. Always learn some new obscure car lore....and lord is my head full of obscure car lore. When are you going to do a story on that M-100 6.9?

Great video. The Dino 246 has been a one of my dream cars since in 1971 TV series The Persuaders Danny Wilde (Tony Curtis) drives it.

The 308 gt4 is a masterpiece. One day I will get one. I want it in an understated color, like dark blue or brown.

The two of them are some of the best looking ferrari. The early one look like little leman car and the 1970s one look like an italian gt version of a lotus esprit, both of them have perfect proportion
