SuperCarlinBrothers have a theory that the unbrella is Hagrid's wand. It makes a bit of sense. When Hagrid was expelled his wand was snapped. Dumbledore get the Elder Wand after defeating Grindelwald. The Elder Wand can repair broken wands so it possible Dumbledore repaired Hagrid's wand and transfigured it into an umbrella so Hagrid could keep it without getting into trouble for having a wand while not allowed to.

I think we don't realize how big Hagrid actually is. I mean, think about it. That umbrella works as a wand to him. In the movies he does not seem so large. I thought the umbrella wand would be around 40cm or a bit more, but not THAT long.

That is true. As for Hagrid not seeming so large in the movies, it's because they more or less shrunk him for the movies. He's said to be twice the height of an average man, so a little over 11 feet tall. But in the movies his actor Robbie Coltrane says that Hagrid's 8'6". I do wish they made a smaller version of the umbrella wand since Hagrid's wand was stated to be 16 inches in length, so a little over 40cm as you thought it would be. Guess Noble Collection decided to make a working sized one.
