Got a Super Viking last week as a birthday present and it is absolutely superb. Suitable for playing everything from blues to hard rock and a little more on it. Just love it! Greetings from Sweden

Thanks for the great video! These Vikings sound / look super interesting to me. I'm usually a Strat guy but after watching Peter Jackson's 'Get Back' I bought a Casino and now I'm in love with holowbodies & semihollows. I wasn't aware of HHagstrom guitars for a long time. I'm not too sure about the necks though since I like junkier necks nowadays and the Caino's already seems rather small coming from a Strat. Definitely have to try one some day though. Also I subbed because I'm s loving cat daddy myself.

Thank you! Well worth trying out if you get chance, and can always count on the cats to jump in on filming sessions!

Hi, can I ask a doubt a have. I recently bought a viking tremar and when it is in the middle position (both pickups), should I be able to control the volume independently?, whatever volume knob I turn, it affects boths pickups (as an identical global function). Is it like this? Thanks a lot!!!
@arbitermatt Жыл бұрын
I think the Viking is a perfect platform for upgrading, because the playability is out of the world. A few upgrades... Input jack, tuners and some pickups (I find the stock ones weren't really giving me the right frequencies if that makes sense, scratchy top end on the bridge, muddy neck) and it's on par with the best semi hollows out there, if not more comfortable and easy to play.

Great review, one thing that must review seem to forget is neck thickness and shape which is one of the most important things for a buyer. Be good to get a view comparing a 335, Sheraton and Tele for example and how much thinner is the Justin York version. Thanks
@anteburazin692 жыл бұрын
Yes the neck, almost always left out, so important, that feel has to be right, for me it's fat fat necks, not slim modern day slim c necks 👍👍
@swedish-geeks2 жыл бұрын
@@anteburazin69 If you want fat necks i guess no Hagström guitar will fit you. Most of their guitars have really slim necks.

Hi, I'm not sure which type of Hagstrom guitar to use. I'm looking for one that I can use to play smooth Jazz, Blues and some pop/rock. Which type of Hagstrom would you recommend for my use? Sincerely, Roger Amundsen
@jamesfranklandguitar Жыл бұрын
Hi Roger, me and the guys at Hagstrom were actually just talking about doing a video on which Hagstrom I’d use in different playing scenarios and why. There’s a few could cover the genres you mentioned, do you prefer shorter or longer scale length?
@rogeramundsen8596 Жыл бұрын
@@jamesfranklandguitar Hi James, Thanks for your quick reply :-) I prefer longer scale length. But, I am open to any suggestions as to which Hagstrom guitar I should buy for my use. Looking for a guitar with a warm tone, easy to play, and which can be used for smooth jazz, blues and pop/rock.
@jamesfranklandguitar Жыл бұрын
@@rogeramundsen8596 Hi Roger, based on the tone requirements you've mentioned there I'd be tempted to say the Viking/ Viking Tremar. They're both shorter scale so will give a warmer tone, there's also the Justin York model Goldtop Viking which has the tune o matic style bridge with a shorter scale. The super Viking would also get you there, I'd say it's the most versatile of the Viking models, but is a little less traditional feeling that the Viking/Tremar models. Hope that helps, any more questions let me know🎸
@rogeramundsen8596 Жыл бұрын
@@jamesfranklandguitar Hi James, Thanks for your honest answer :-) Looks like the Super Viking might be the right guitar for me and my use. What do you think about that? PS! Do you have any videos, or anything else, that I can watch to hear how the Super Viking sounds when playing smooth jazz, blues and pop/rock?
@jamesfranklandguitar Жыл бұрын
@@rogeramundsen8596 Thanks Roger, I think the Super Viking is a great all rounder, and if I could only use one Hagstrom for a recording session or gig that would be the one I’d take. I’m afraid it’s just this one I have with the Super Viking, I have a couple of others with the Viking and Alvar which have some clips with the genres you mentioned in there. As I say hoping to get a video specifically on which Hagstrom I’d use in different playing scenarios and why filmed and uploaded before the year is out, it’s a big video so just planning it all out at the moment 🎸

I used to have the tremar viking deluxe and was forced to sell it. Damn I miss that guitar so much. You could play anything with it. You could even play extreme metal with it if you had a good enough noise gate. If I see another one at the right price I'm grabbing it.........
