Brilliance! "Hahn Solo" distills the essence of Sibelius Violin Concerto, especially the adagio! The allegro movements both in places entwine the solo violin part with orchestral crescendi, so this version sounds almost incomplete in places, although still compelling in this form. But the adagio is, at least to my ear, an unalloyed wonder. Hilary Hahn captures the movement to perfection, with all the gorgeous melodies shining and shimmering. Indeed, the essentialized clarity is so fine that at times I prefer this version of the adagio. Just wonderful. 🤩😍

This is a magnificent piece of music! I love hearing the solo without the “burden” although of course the orchestra is soulful and rich. It is incredibly inspiring to hear Hilary Hahn use her incredible gifts to make this piece so monumental, yet tender.

Just in case you thought she was hiding behind the orchestra in sone of the more challenging parts. It is all as clear as a bell. Love it.

The video description seems to indicate that she will be uploading other solo concerto performances too so I really hope that Mendelssohn is one of them!

Most beautiful! I never tire of hearing Hilary Hahn play this-- The sublety, tone, musicality and singing melody - Sibelius must be applauding, wherever he is!
