@Jjcoolstuff4 ай бұрын
The fan comes with a remote control that you can mount in a holder on the wall. You can also add a wireless wall control as well that’s more fixed. store.bigassfans.com/en_us/i6-es6-bluetooth-wall-controller

Nice Review. Well done and through. I have no played with the app much, and appreciate that you did such a great job going over the features. I have L series fan and love it. So much that I order a Lux series unit for another room. Beautiful fan. Silent and vibration free even at high speeds. And the Alexa integration is great. I leave the remote in the drawer and just walk in the room and say "Alexa turn on the fan". "Alexa turn on the light", "Alexa turn the fan speed to 5", etc. Next I have to hook it up to the Ecobee 3. Does it utilize the Ecobee remote sensors?
@Jjcoolstuff7 жыл бұрын
+jerry kurata thanks for the comment! I got an Echo recently, which I featured in the Haiku light review, and I’ve really enjoyed the functionality that it enables with the Haiku products. I wish I would have had that for the fan review. With ecobee, neither use each other’s sensors. It does allow the fan to know what temperature you’re trying to achieve in the room and to speed up or slow down depending on what the actual temperature is. Pretty handy.

@Jjcoolstuff8 жыл бұрын
userbosco thanks for the encouragement on the review. This is what Haiku has to say about mounting in damp locations: "If your fan will be in a covered outdoor space, you’ll need a composite or aluminum fan. All Haiku fans can be installed indoors, but only our composite and aluminum finishes are damp rated. These fans can be installed in covered outdoor spaces like patios and gazebos. Haiku fans should not be installed in open outdoor areas."

Did you know that you are the only resource I've seen about pairing a Haiku with an Ecobee3? Can you create a separate video on that process?
@Jjcoolstuff8 жыл бұрын
+simpleinseattle interesting. Once the Haiku and ecobee are paired there's nothing else to do. Whenever your ecobee is in heat mode the Haiku fan uses smarter heating mode and when the ecobee is in cool mode the Haiku uses smarter cooling. If you run your ecobee in auto mode then the fan will switch back and forth accordingly depending on what the ecobee is doing. It's a great system!

I am confused. The LED light color/temperature on the fan cannot be adjusted, but the same light as a stand-alone light can be adjusted? The part at 5:00 is what I am referring to.
@Jjcoolstuff5 жыл бұрын
Yes, the fan light came out first and the standalone light was newer and therefore had more functionality. The rumor was they were going to update the fan light at some point to a light that can adjust color temp but I don’t think that’s happened. They also have stopped selling the stand alone lights and plan to re-enter that market at some point in the future. That’s a bummer too because I like those lights a lot!

@@Jjcoolstuff Thank you for the clarification. Yes, I want one of these fans, but if I cannot change the color away from the dated "yellow" look, well then that is a major bummer.

Using all these devices with their own software is really limiting their integration capabilities, the fans do now work with HomeKit if you use an independent gateway, however that might not include every native function available.

The price is just brutal and while I am more than willing to pay a premium for premium products, $600 is just not justifiable for me. If you are looking to just automize a ceiling fan, consider a smart light switch for $30 and hook it up to that.
@Jjcoolstuff7 жыл бұрын
+Markus Frohlich did you make it all the way through the video? There are so many more features than what a smart light switch can provide. Like scheduling the fan speed or light brightness. Better yet, dynamically changing the fan speed based on the temperature in the room. It is a pricey fan, but a $30 smart light switch definitely won't even begin to touch what you get from this fan.
@mrksdlx7 жыл бұрын
I have seen the whole video and I like it in and of itself. As stated above, however, I am merely interested in automizing the fan so I can control it with the echo. I am not saying this is a bad product, but for what I am looking for, it's just not feasible.
@Jjcoolstuff7 жыл бұрын
+Markus Frohlich thanks, I partially misunderstood your comment then. It's probably not worth the price to you, but with this fan you can not only turn the fan and/or light on and off with the Echo but you can also control the brightness and the fan speed. Pretty slick.

fans dont cool rooms, they actually heat it up because of the motor. so not sure how it works with thermostats...
@Jjcoolstuff10 ай бұрын
With a really efficient motor, the heat generated isn’t significant. However, you’re correct that fans don’t cool rooms. What they do is make you feel cooler by moving air across your skin. Similar to the normal temp outside and the “real feel”. The fan interacts with the thermostat to know what the temp is in the room and what you would like the temp to be. If the temp is rising and you’d prefer it be cooler, the fan will increase speed to help you feel cooler, not to actually lower the temp in the room necessarily. Though one could argue that when the fan picks up speed it moves the warmer air from near the ceiling and allows it to be better processed by the HVAC to actually cool the room better.
@enzoperruccio5 жыл бұрын
An air conditioner costs less, performs better and can also heat up/dehumidify a room. There's no reason for this expensive and gimmicky fan to exist.
