I think why Kita said it was rude coz they're ignoring the fact that "geniuses" work so hard to become that good, not instantly genius
@submandave11252 жыл бұрын
I love how Kita talks about how these "geniuses" don't just go from 1-10 like most, and not just by going further (1-20), but by completely changing the rules (A-Z). It's true in any pursuit, not just having the vision to see beyond but the courage to actually go there, and both can only be developed by discipline.

I would like to point out how Hinata saved the hell out of that last point, not only because of his kick, but because he started running for the spike right when he saw Kageyama going for the ball.Even if Kageyama was able to set it, it would be a short one, so if Hinata wasn't in the air by then, the point would be lost anyway
@NaCl15722 жыл бұрын
In 3:48, what Kita meant was that Daichi should've followed up and saved the ball, instead of going for the synchronized attack. And during the twins’ quick, he did just that in 5:41. It reminds me of season 2 when Daichi did the same thing in the Johzenji match with KageHina missing their quick. Both captains have similarities: being better on the defensive, consistent, and can pull the team together even though they don’t do that much flashy plays. Kita assumes both are on the same page because of that, but Daichi isn’t a “backup” that covers for his teammates like he thought, but his job is to score just like everyone else. And Daichi’s spike in 6:38 proves just that: he’s also a spiker, he’s just better at receiving.
@milkntomatoes94182 жыл бұрын
3:05 It's something that's easily missed I think, but it's a really great detail that Tsukki is already tired while still in set 3. Remember he only started giving his 100% around season 2, only got his "moment of getting hooked into vb" in s3, and only started jumping much higher this season. Those all happened over the course of a few months. Meaning he really hasn't built up stamina to accommodate the sudden shift in his jump height. On the other hand, Inarizaki has a good vb program and they prbly have equipment for muscle/stamina training like Nekoma does. If you look at all the Inarizaki members' stats, everyone actually has a stamina of 4/5 (almost perfect). Of course, Hinata and Kageyama are stamina monsters bcos they've been training like crazy ever since middle school or earlier.

To understand Kita's thought, let's go back to Oikawa's character story. Oikawa always believed that there will be natural players/gifted athletes that will overcome your hardwork because you're just average and they will outclass you no matter what, so during the series, we always thought that those kinds of players are just built different. But in Kita's case, he thinks that gifted players are people who do things differently (denser 1-10 or A-Z) to push themselves and allowing ourselves to surrender to the idea of them just being "special" disregards the amount of hardwork they put in to the game (hence, being "rude"). Edit: Just to clarify, I do think Kita acknowledges that people have certain advantages but only those who put the effort and dedication can make those advantages bear fruit. And I pointed out Oikawa's story because initially, he already resigned himself as ordinary and put Kageyama and Ushiwaka as geniuses to which Kita said earlier that when you believe that someone starts off as a genius, you've already lost long before you started playing against them. *I love how everyone is passionate about Kita's speech :)

@marius89302 жыл бұрын
I think that idea works in real life, not so much in Haikyuu. I mean Kageyama is doing things multiple setters that are better say they physically cant possibly do.
@mence59922 жыл бұрын
I do not completely agree because when Kita talks about it is saying that their 1-10 is denser meaning that they get better faster, surely is part of their talent being able to go from A to Z and surely is saying that in Miya's case they were not geniuses from the beginning and that surrendering because other's are geniuses "disregards the amount of hardwork they put in to the game". But it's more complex than that. People watching Haikyu usually tend to miss that the author isn't trying to say that talent doesn't exist, I always see people thinking that Haikyuu is just trying to say us that talents doesn't exist and that everyone should train as hard as they can, and that everything is possible. But is far from real. Furodate wants us to know that there isn't one form of talent and there are just few cases in which is so clear that a person is talented. Now from the few sentence i've read i do understand that it's not what you are saying, but still I do wanna share with you an analysis that i did after the ending of the manga. Furodate with haikyuu tries to give us his idea of what talent is and all its facets. In sports, there have always been athletes who explode earlier and others who explode later (the so-called late bloomers). Furodate is good at explaining that some have such an immaculate talent for the sport that it's impossible not to notice from the start, we have guys like Kageyama, with an unnatural sense of play and precision supported by a physique well beyond the average. Others like Ushijima who are tall, big, athletic and may have other gifts, such as being left handed or having incredibly mobile joints However, there are other kinds of talent that can explode at any moment and only after years of practice and dedication. See Hinata, who at first glance you might think is lacking in talent, instead in the rest of the series it turns out to have an inhuman first step and great leap, to which is added the ability to distinguish moving objects in a fraction of a second and finally also a propensity to receive that without much training and practice on the field would never have come out. Here we refer to José Blanco's speech with Oikawa, to the reasoning on the blossoming talent and to Kita's speech on the fact that the Miya twins did not start out as phenomena from day one, but simply that their talent led them to get better faster than anyone else, as if their growth was exponential rather than linear when compared to ordinary people. Oikawa after setting a perfect ball to Iwa falls to the ground and says "talent is something you make bloom, instinct is something you polish". My point of view is that at that moment Oikawa is embracing both the certainty that he can still improve without talent and also the hope that on the way to his limit he can make his talent bloom. "Today might be the day to grasp the chance to let your talent bloom. Maybe tomorrow, the day after, or next year... Maybe even when you're in your thirty. I'm not sure if physique has anything to do with it, but if you think that it will never come, it probably never will " Tōru Oikawa

@@mence5992 In my opinion the whole idea behind it is just to convey that it is rude to assume someone else is better than you just because of talent ... you automaticly demenish all their hard work and training and label it to a word so you can feel better about yourself and your lack abilititly ... you can only say someone beat you because of talent when you faced them with all you have got while you are at your peak of your career and ability. Also, even if you have innate talent for something if you do not work hard and train you will be below an avarage player. I always remember chess players stories going through this ... even some are talented that they have very high cognative abilities or photogentic memory ... if those players do not study theory of chess they end up being an avarage chess player and never win any competetions against the best in the world.
@mence59922 жыл бұрын
@@adamkhalid917 i mean. Your Anlysis Is on point of what Kita Is telling. The point Is that Kita is a tool used by furodate to tell US something deeper. From Hinata, to Oikawa/Ushijima and at the end with Kita talking about the Twins furodate message Is pretty clear. Talent Isn't the Same for everyone. You should not surrender, at least not too early, because talents Is different from everyone, you can maybe get Better faster than others, or even Bloom late because to use your talent you Need a lot of training before. The clear example are Hyakuzawa and Hinata. Hyakuzawa talent Is clear and simple, he Is tall, fucking tall. And he Is from day 1. Hinata Is short, but Is fast and can Jump High. He needed training to use It as a decoy. He can see moving object in milliseconds. He has to train ti use that talent. And at the end Hinata Is short and compact, something that helps with receiving, but he had to understand timing and tecnique to use that talent. That's the Big picture of Furodate. That's why Blanco told Oikawa to not surrender until the end. That why Kita Says that you should never surrender Just because at the Moment others seems more talented than you.

Kita's monologue about "geniuses" (better translated "prodigies" for western audiences, as the word genius is usually with regards to intellect and not technical skill), show why the Aoba Josai coach was wrong about Oikawa not being a "genius." The small clip of Oikawa was meant to show that every single time Kageyama improves, Oikawa puts more effort into his own development, and all this intentionality and effort is because of one simple fact: they love volleyball a bit more than everyone else (recall Osamu's words to Atsumu). It is not natural talent (Osamu had more of this than Atsumu), nor hard work alone (as Kita would probably be among the greatest, but isn't), but the LOVE OF VOLLEYBALL that makes someone become a genius. I cannot overemphasize how important this episode is for the overall philosophy of the series, because Furudate is intentionally subverting previous ideas back in season 1. This emphasis on the love of volleyball is expressed even in the title of the series itself: it is not "Haikyuu" but "Haikyuu!!"
@d_yoons932 жыл бұрын
19:00 When Kita says "it's rude" I feel like he means it's rude to just call this people "geniuses" or "talented" like they were just born that way and you never had a chance. But no, they just practice hard, try new things and work hard in general. So if you think you don't have a chance and just give up because its "unfair" that's on you not on them. They are playing very fair. And yeah, like you said, to just give up like they're not worth the try is also rude because they like people to challenge them and treat them like equals, not like some type of superior force you need to avoid

What Kita says here is so powerful; it is "rude" to automatically chalk the skills someone else has as "genius" before even playing them. It's a backhanded compliment that implies that it's just so easy for the other person and that they've never worked hard for what they have achieved. Talent can be recognized without dismissing it as just "genius." I've been there before, and it can be damaging to the person one speaks about.
@milkntomatoes94182 жыл бұрын
Yeah, and I love that this goes for everything too, not just in the field of sports. In the art community it's very common to hear those types of compliments, even from fellow artists. Usually ppl don't realize how rude it can be, either.

Another thing about the "genius" stuff is that people dismiss all the hard work that guys like atsumu and kageyama put every day to get to be a genius. They just say "oh yeah, he's a genius, he's born that way". Thats why Kita talked about the scales that people use to do things, normally from 1 to 10, but people very passionate always try to go even beyond, working hard every day in every way just to get better.

I love the way that the clear cut elaboration of what Kageyama said to Tanaka was basically a threat. The tone of the anime may not have showcased that wel but it’s supposed to be a “show them why I have faith in you” and not a cute lil “I believe in you” moment. That’s why Tanaka says “he wasn’t saying that to make me feel better” because he was actually using it in a kinda threatening way. Shows the serene king gets down😭

I think the way kita meant thinking people are geniuses from the start is because it dismisses all the hardwork these players put in to improve their games. Guys like kageyama, atsumu and ushijima have a affinity for the game but the're not geniuses simply because they are born better. They are geniuses through their love and dedication for the game all the blood sweat and tears they poured into it. In the twins back story osamu had a better affinity for the sport then atsumu but atsumu ended up overtaking him through his love and dedication for the sport and never being satisfied. Hell even hinata is now considered a genius and we all know how much he sucked when he started. He had some flashes of brilliance but was far from anything close to a genius!
