im seeing all these comments about how kageyama gets no credit for what he does but at least one person calls him a genius in like every episode. Sure hinata does get a lot of credit but I think kageyama gets more and his praise is a lot higher. The most theyve ever said about Hinata is that hes fast and has good stamina. Thats it whereas kageyama gets called a genius setter and all. its crazy how you guys say that Hinata gets the credit when hes constantly criticised for other things like his serving and receiving. the thing tho is that it’s precisely because kageyama is called a genius that he doesn’t get much credit for what he does. because kageyama is a genius, that’s true. but on top of all that genius he also takes volleyball more seriously than most people (except hinata and other volleyball idiots) and trains rlly hard. he is ALREADY a genius and yet he still works so hard and practices so much supplementing his natural talent. most people see him and compliment him for his ‘genius’, but he usually never gets acknowledged for his hard work, instead being complimented for his super accuracy and good game sense. but what he should be praised for is that he worked super duper hard for this one quick that only one player - hinata - can use. ofc hinata should also get credit for what he does (like when he goes to the old coach ukai and trains so that he can get better at mid air battles, or *spoiler alert* when he crashes the miyagi camp to observe the other players and learn skills). but it’s wrong to say that kageyama gets all the credit and hinata none. personally i think both of them need more credit for their hard work.

Fun fact: the toss(the one that falls) that kageyama does is possible, although it's a bit more exaggerated in the anime. The same concept applies to curveballs in baseball and football/soccer. It's called the Magnus effect. It's extremely hard to do which is why it's not as common and it proves how talented kageyama really is. some would say it's illegal because spin(which is what kills the balls horizontal momentum) is usually seen as an indicative of double which is illegal in volleyball.

The real Problem is, that there is no real reason to do this. Mostly because it is much more effective to play the ball just in a straight Line with more Speed. Especially as a middle, even in VNL mid is 100% about Tempo, they hit the ball Not even close as hard as the other 3 attackers. Absolutely no point in a Set, that will keep the ball in a certain area longer.

I think it is interesting how some lines get translated differently throughout the languages. I watched Haikyuu with german subs but i watch Haikyuu related content in english and there are one or two things that stood out, for instance right before Hinata and Kageyamas first new quick attack, Hinata says "your're not gonna do it?", whereas in german he says "Ich glaube an dich", which translates into "i belive in you".
