Another good example is when Gus Hansen texas Hold'em player went all in five times in a row without even looking at his cards, because he had to be number one or two at the table to make it to the next stage.

That's also the reason why Taliban kept fighting, because they had nothing to lose, the Afghan government didn't want to make a deal with them.

The Taliban are proxies for Pakistan's deep state. They were funded, trained and provisioned by Pakistan. Who in turn were/are funded by the US. Without that funding, both Pakistan and Taliban would have found it difficult to survive for so many years... Try and figure it out.
