Video footage of Haile's running........................................
First part; Haile training in an easy pace on the beach (The Hague) in the Netherlands
Second part; Haile in Berlin 2008, running a WR on the marathon, average pace; 2min.57.2sec./km). Pretty impressive.
*The first video is a footage from "Holland sport" edited by Physio & Posecoach Jacky Nederland; www.fysioenzo.nl

Right. I have seen this guy running a lot since my comment (on video) and i have had the honour to see some elites running. Heel strike is a completely unknown concept for these people (and fortunately for me too). Check out how he is not landing on his fore foot either... he is just caressing the ground enough to keep floating, flying over the ground like in these dreams where you dream you can fly.

People really don't understand how fast he actually runs... If people praise soccer players, which aren't even fit at all when comparing to runners, people should worship Haile. His achievements are just out of this world.

Dude football players don't run, it seems you never saw pro players playing before!! They run easily 10 kms per game and some go up to 13 kms or more with two extra times!! Without to mention the high intensity in a football game so they sprint with a ball and change directions. Also the huge physicality in it and contact drains your body and exhaust you further more. I get much tired playing Football than running a 13 kms daily because running it's a steady pace no sprinting and physical contacts. Don't forget running with a ball takes much more energy to control the ball and to do the right technical moves. Try to play a game every 3 days and train daily like pros then you'll be able to see how fit those footballers are!!

@tadaa11 the reason it looks like he is just about hitting his heels is because that is the end of a 26.2 mile race that he set a world record (sub 450 pace), check out his 10k races where he wears spikes (no heel) he is still a forefoot/flat foot runner

Slow run cadence = 173 steps/min. (You need a metronome to properly measure it). So 180 is not necessarily a magic number. Regarding heel / forefoot strike, his foot is clearly coming down very smoothly under the body. In this case it doesn't matter much if the heel slightly kisses the ground first.

I don't know if I've seen a runner whose feet spend less time on the ground.

Elites don't heel strike because it is slow, they don't even think about it. Go out and run as fast as you can, guarantee you wont be heel striking. You also wont be running under 6min/mile heel striking.

@HugRunner So, so true. He said before in an interview he literally can't run slower than 7:00/mile. Thats crazy to think about. His lazy ass P.E. style jog would be sub 7:00, which is faster than most of people can run a 5K at and faster than your typical H.S cross country runner does for most of his standard runs. Pretty sure his easy jogging/everyday pace is deep into the mid or low 5:00's.

@IoSonoIoProprioIo the shoe he wears is not important. if his form is good (and it is by no means perfect; bounces and does not land completely under his body) and he has had no injuries then there's no logic to switching shoes
