I also feel like nepo babies should go out of their way to go to arts schools and sponsor people who don't have nepotism to help them break into the industry. Like I think people would like nepo babies a lot more if they then use their privilege to start a scholarship or a charity. Or would take an apprentice under their wings every couple years. I just feel like if I broke into a very sought-after industry because of who my family was and not my own skills I feel like I would try to spend the rest of my career doing that for other people who weren't born with the same privileges as me.

nepotism would be less infuriating, or at least less would complain, if everyone who got their careers through it were at least competent in their careers. The sheer number of them that are NOT really just highlights how it's literally only their daddy/mommy handing them a high-position and job, contributing to making the world worse and throwing their privilege around in the midst of growing calls to give the bourgeoisie a French Revolution Style anti-aging treatment. or something like that I haven't been on twitter much since Elon took over

@danaglabeman6919 Жыл бұрын
Part of the issue is it's really subtle and complex how much nepotism has actually gone into someone's career, and it's so closed-door, there's no way to know. Of course you have those who were like, "Daddy, I wanna model, call your friends and get me a job," but there's also involuntary nepotism, like when someone hides their last name and tells no one who they are, but casting agents find out anyway and chose them because their parents will come to the premiere, or when a director puts their 4 year old in a picture so, like it or not, as a preschooler they already have a SAG card. And of course some aspects of talent are genetic, but teasing apart how much someone owes to mom and dad is inherited and how much to back door connections? Impossible. It's like Louisa Jacobson: she changed her name to hide her connections and has never used her parents' fame: she's actually really self conscious about making sure she doesn't. But it's not that easy to hide who you are. Everyone knew who she was. Within weeks, it was a byline next to her name in every article about "The Gilded Age." And turns out she's not that good. Not bad, but I'm sure they saw many more talented actresses. Of course they picked her, partially, for her family connections. But was that her fault? No. In every profession, for forever, that is subjective, you're gonna have a similar situation. However, Hailey seems to be a pretty obvious case of "I'm only in your face because I was born a Baldwin, married a Bieber a d made friends with a Jenner" I mean, she walked the runway for what, a season?
@roselynmvm Жыл бұрын
@@danaglabeman6919 that’s not the case with Haley though. She quit modeling because some casting person told her she wasn’t good and since then she hasn’t tried anything. She just gets pay to show up at every event you see her at. And I highly doubt the t-shirt meant what Luke said (sorry that I’m a nepo baby and can’t help it). It probably means “Im privileged and you’re not” to people that criticize her for, well, not really working hard for anything. That’s probably why people are annoyed about that t-shirt .

The shape of the skirt was interesting, and the jacket was cool: The mismatch of color and embellishment was so jarring. I imagined it as if it were one piece, the skirt made out of the same orangey velvet as the jacket, with the same surrealist embellishments dripping out of the inside of the frothy gathered inside of the skirt, and a really nipped waist to balance out the big weird skirt/shoulders. It says to me someone needs a new stylist. Michelle Yeoh is a big enough star, she can command a custom look. She doesn't need to take straight off the runway if it's not working. Someone made that choice.

The ethos of somebody getting a job because of who they know rather than hard work and merit is a slap in the face and unfair. That is why Nepotism is not valued or appreciated at all.
@danaglabeman6919 Жыл бұрын
You're right, but it's not always so black and white. There's such a thing called involuntary nepotism, when someone does their best to hide who they are and not use any connections, and want to make it on their own merit, but it comes out and the people in charge use it to their advantage anyway. Sometimes it's the reverse of what we think: rather than "what can who my parents are get me?" it's more like, "what can we get from putting so and so's child in our production?" I'm not saying it's fair: of course it's not. No one should have a job they don't deserve over someone else who does, in any profession. But there's consequences to the nepo babies too. As someone with a parent with a very prestigious medical career, whom I had to FIGHT to stop from saying "just let me make a call," "I'll talk to so and so and you won't even have to interview," I would bet many of these people would LOVE to be judged on their own talents and have their family connections ignored. But sometimes the publicity those family connections can bring to the project are more important to the people making hiring decisions, and a nepo baby has to either accept that, or find a different career.

Growing up Fashion Police was my comfort show and your videos have brought back that nostalgia for me❤ Also, Aspen is in Colorado not Utah…But that’s an easy mistake because they are right next to each other! You’re amazing and love your videos!!

Why is everyone yelling about Colorado . Sundance film festival happens in Utah , and many may forget that the Sun Dance is actually an Americanized term for Wiwáŋyaŋg Wačípi… kinda interesting considering native Americans were banned from celebrating it until the late 70s

Out of all the outfits ...some fabulous...that sky blue dress with the red lace on Margot was show stopping! Who thought this was cringe? It's unusual...but such a great 180 example of great combos. It's not Christmas at our house until we see Vera Ellen dance in a miniscule wedding dress with red lace gloves in the Minstrels number in White Christmas. The dusky sky blue background with that red baroque throne and red accents is incredible and all themed after Edith Heads costume design! RED was her accent color to make everyone take notice...just like on Margots dress. You nailed it Luke. You know your stuff, and so does your eye! Who thought this was bad? Non traditional, sure...but great? absolutely yes!

The thing with kpop idols is that they have like a different event etiquette, like they will wear interesting clothes in music videos but then you will see them at korean awards and they mostly wear black simple gowns, not like in the west were musicians do the most at award shows in terms of fashion. I think Blackpink are very fashion foward in their mvs but then in awards they play it safe and not just them I think its a korean thing xd they take the black tie very literally

I really don't think they do... They keep marketing her as the 'it girl' when she is really really not. Because nobody really cares about what she is doing other than her husband's fans and even a lot of them don't care about her existence.
