Instead of re reading the whole thing (I dread the thought of it taking a long time too) I just read online summaries for them and it all came back to me! I'm now on the library audiobook wait list for it and can't wait!

Hello Hailey, I think (with your dutch background) you really should read the best dutch middle grade / ya fantasy book there is, which is translated in english only recently. Honestly I re-read books 1-5 in preparation for Kingdom of Ash and skipped re-reading Tower of Dawn because I ran out of time. I remembered pretty much nothing from it but it all came rushing back as soon as I read KOA. I read KOA in three days because there was just never a good place to pause my reading, there was too much happening! So I wouldn't be too intimidated, it's such a great finale. I really wanted to read The Darkest Minds series and Catwoman but I was pretty slumpy all year so I'm hoping to get to them next year!
@malloryrosier93056 жыл бұрын
A Reaper at the Gates was one of my favorite books this year!! Torch fell kinda flat for me tbh (I still really liked it tho) but Reaper literally tore me to shreds. In the best way possible haha I think you can look up the summary of the first two online, I'd be so excited to see what your thoughts are on Reaper!
@thesonorista78536 жыл бұрын
I'm so with you in forgetting what happened. It's one reason I try to write at least a small plot summary on goodreads for myself (doesn't always happen) for series books. Reaper was awesome. I know you said that you don't like rereading books in order to catch up to the newest release, but I really recommend that you read An Ember in the Ashes and A Torch Against the Night before you start A Reaper at the Gates. Some things that happened in Ember are super important to the third book, and you might not get the full impact or completely understand if you don't remember what happened. It's truly worth it though. I would at least recommend reading a detailed summary to jog your memory. And congrats on writing two books this year!!
@emmacarolinereads6 жыл бұрын
I think if I hadn't forced myself to read Kingdom of Ash as soon as it was released, I would constantly be putting it off because the paperback is truly a beast of a book and it looked intimidating. At the minute, I have a long list of books I wish I'd read this year including, Book of Dust (a 2017 release), Vengeful, Muse of Nightmares, Children of Blood and Bone, Three Dark Crowns...all of which I had every intention of reading but didn't. I was a die hard Uglies fan and I really enjoyed Imposters. I don’t think you need to reread the first series to enjoy it. It’s definitely a solid standalone series.
@okalanibergschneider12016 жыл бұрын
I just started reading imposters this morning (and I read the uglies series nearly ten years ago) and surprisingly you could just read a synopsis of the first books and just start this one. You don’t really need a lot of back story. It’ll fill in information for you and flows well because this is set well after the uglies series versus extras being set right after the ending of the original trilogy.

Catwoman by SJM was a book I Dnf'd. I'm not the biggest fan of her writing, and there's a few issues in that Selina Kyle is Cuban in the comics but described constantly as pale in the novel and the handling of a police brutality theme within the novel. Also so much misogyny. So much

I am so behind on my TBR, it’s not even funny. Idk why but for some reason I have yet to read some of my most anticipated releases for this year: A Reaper at the Gates, Kingdom of Ash, A Map of Days, A Very Large Expanse of Sea. Partly it’s because there simply aren’t enough hours in the day. But on a subconscious level I think I’ve also been putting off reading them because most of these are the next/last installment in a series that I already love so much. It’s a little intimidating and as much as I want to read these books, I also don’t want the series to be over/to have to wait a year or more for the next book! I definitely plan to read QoAAD before the end of the year, and hopefully Kingdom of Ash too. The others will be my first reads of 2019!
