Fun fact: I’m 71 years old. Back when I was in my twenties we used to snowshoe out in the morning until it was time to stop for the night. We’d find the thickest stand of spruce with low hanging branches and make our camp. We’d add branches on top of each till we had a nice cozy den to spend the night then we’d pile about a foot os boughs on the ground to sleep on. We’d gather enough wood to last the night and bank the fire so the heat was reflected inward to where we were sleeping. We’d sit up in our sleeping bags and drink tea till bedtime. Always fun times.😅

Revives the that old notion taken from the Saturday matinees cowboy and Indian pictures of one rifle shot equals one dead indian. And they're flint locks to boot and a pistol? A ridiculous story told in a beautiful setting. And the dialog? strictly contemporary American. Trivia Pursuit.

Such sympathy for the native Americans in this movie. They were already living in the post Apocalypse created by the colonizers. Fighting for a right to live in freedom. Fighting for a right to feed their families as hunter gatherers. Europeans superior weapons allowed them to decimate food animals natives depended on for generations. Too sad. In unfortunately can no longer enjoy movies like these. I know too much now.

I made it through the first five mins. and 30 sec. But when I watched the guy hiding behind the tree, and an Indian tracking him in 12" of snow a just past him right up! That was enough for me. I could track someone in the snow out in the middle of nowhere! Turn off all western even if I'm kind of interested if they do something real dumb, like shoot over six times with a six shooter. Time for me to search for another movie.
