The moment you realize you spent hundreds or thousands of dollars buying a Morphagene, Instruo Arbhar, Qu-Bit Nebulae, Strymon Magneto, and assorted VCAs, sequencers, filters, preamps, mics, etc., to accomplish the same results. . . ;-) Great app, Hainbach!

@@syncdestroyer if the developer is actually decent (and Bram Bos is), then it’ll be around for many years. There are apps I use regularly that have been around since 2010-2011. Yeah you have to upgrade the iPad every 5-6 years but its stupidly cheap for what it does. Don’t know why you’d think it’ll be obsolete lol

Bought the app last night. It's really nice. Here are a couple recommendations to make it even better: 1) Adjustable feedback amount. Loopers are essentially delays with 100% feedback. If you can make the loops have adjustable feedback, you can fade the sounds out over time as you continue to add new sounds, which helps the loop evolve. You can also use the feedback to create swells and other amplitude modifications to the loop as it's playing. 2) A "replace" feature. Valhalla Delay implements this as adjustable ducking. Whenever you hit the record button, it ducks the exiting loop to some amount, which allows you to modify the loop and helps it evolve. You can get really glitchy loops like this. 3) Option to make the Record button a momentary switch instead of latching. Right now, you hit Record and it stays on 'til you turn it off. A momentary switch would only record while you're holding the sound down. This makes it possible to toggle Record on and off very quickly to make very short clicks of recorded sound. 4) An external insert and return within the feedback path. Augustus Loop does this. It allows you to put any other effects you want within the feedback path to modify the loop as it's going. It opens up a whole world of possibilities for mangling loops and keeping them evolving. I don't know if this is actually possible in iOS AUv3 plugins, but if it is, it'd be killer. I've used lots of different hardware and software loopers and long delays. They all have some combination of the coolest features, but none of them has all the cool features. Gauss could be the first.

its crazy how slept-on IOS is in the world of music production. the touch-screen interface and hardware elements (such as the accelerometer, as seen in this video) allows for a level of creativity in plugin-design that just isn’t possible on traditional computers. and the best part is that these apps rarely cost more than $20 but don’t sacrifice much at all in terms of functionality and sound quality

this is one of the first apps I've installed on my brand new iPad Pro, and it's really fun to play with. The only thing I can think it lacks it's a reverb, maybe a plate. I'm a noob in iPadOs apps and I think this can be done chaining another reverb app after Gauss, but if I remember correctly cheap/free good reverb apps are hard to find. By the way I'm really amazed by how you manage to do a billion things in such a short time. You are a source of insipiration not only by the musical composition side, but also from a professional point of view. Thanks to you and Bram Bos for this gem.

I've been experimenting with this app today. The Stape speed options and modulation remind me of the morphagene in some ways. This app reminds me of the android app "grainstorm" a good bit too. This is a VERY interesting little app. I would love to record without noise though. I have one of the newer iPhones with the very limited lighting port that only allows a single connection so I'm recording with the headset mic. Not optimal but the noise will probably sound cool when I dump it to the morphagene.

Absolutely fantastic app, thank you Hainbach! I was sold within a minute of starting to watch the video and so psyched to see it was only 6.99. I feel really fortunate to have such a creative tool for such an affordable price. Also pleasantly surprised to find out that the developer made HAMMERHEAD, I think the very first drum machine software I ever used back in... yeesh... 2000? Tiny feature suggestions for the next revision: 1) when the delay is set to "sync", display the musical subdivision it's set to 2) Add an "init" button to clear all the settings out in one click? Larger ideas: 1) Ableton Link (if you're gonna sync, you might as well Link? :D) 2) Background audio / interapp audio somehow? Even without any of these, great app, thank you so much for being part of designing it!
