Knowing your hair porosity is so important. I noticed that when I started using products that were more relevant to my porosity, I saw a positive change in my hair. Thank you for this deep dive into the topic! It's so helpful.

I'm brand new to the natural hair journey at 56. I haven't been natural for 39 years. I'm so excited. Your videos have been so helpful. The stylist and I did the big chop last week. Coronavirus shutdown was a great opportunity to make this drastic change. I've been wanting to do this for 3 - 4 years. I'm in love with my hair. I think I'm high porosity, but time will tell.

Great video! The Float Test fails/gives confusing results often because people aren't using a clean strand of hair. The Shower Test (on clean, dry hair) is by far the best. Also, Low Porosity hair dries fast WITHOUT product and takes a long time to dry WITH product because of the lower cuticles/water penetration into the hair strands. LP hair can also seem more porous when it needs a good clarifying (gets wet WAY faster than usual, may even feel a bit weird under water and while wet). I think your hair is Low to Medium Porosity.
@leila87014 жыл бұрын
I was wondering if what people were saying was true because my hair was drying fast but the middle wasn't. ( Because it's disrespectful. ) But I am still learning what porosity I am so maybe they are right.

I love this video. I noticed my hair Porosity changed when I colored my hair. I was low porosity, and then I noticed my hair wasn’t retaining any moisture from my water based products like it did in the past. So I decided to do this braid and curl for my birthday and I used a butter for moisture and definition. And OMG my curls were poppin.

Today is June 21st, 2022. My hair is growing back from having breast cancer twice. I fully wash and condition my hair every 2 weeks and I rinse it with luke warm water. In the summer time due to sweating a lot I will rinse my hair really good to rinse out the salt and then I put in a leave in conditioner. I use Cantu products and Palmers length retention hair and scalp oil with Biotin and vitamin E and I add in carrot oil, olive oil and castor oil. I don't use any gel. My scalp is still sensitive from the chemo and I message my scalp twice a day. I am still on cancer medication and I take Prenatal vitamin also because of the cancer medication.

I have low porosity hair. I think, but my hair loves Briogeo Don’t Despair Repair, Uncle Funkys Daughter Curly Magic and Camille Rose Curl Maker. I think I’m like you my hair has low & high porosity characteristics.
@QueenHonestlySavage4 жыл бұрын
Yes I also have both characteristics of low and high porosity so most likely we are normal porosity cause a combination of both low and high porosity products works formed as well. Before i leave the shower my hair is dry and i have to moisturize everyday just a light refresher spritz and i am good to go... even though I dont have damage to my hair cause some people are just natural born with high porosity and or normal even though some say its easier not true at all cause u have to combine both low and hair porosity but that's what makes us all unique cause what might work for some does work for all PERIOD love the video . I truly wish there would be more videos on medium (normal) porosity

I so loved this video. I’m high porosity and recently kept wearing a puff which was really cute; HOWEVER, I didn’t moisturize like I was supposed to AND let’s say after it took 45 minutes to detangle my hair, lesson learned concerning moisturizing my hair. I knew better 😟🤔🤔🤔My hair is about shoulder length and it was just torture with knots and everything. I had to trim my ends too🤨🤨

Camille Rose's Curlaide is a really good butter for low property hair. The first ingredient is water. It is SOO moisturizing and a little goes a long way! I the product last you so long and it will keep your hair moisturized all week! You wont even want to use oils after you try this. The curl maker has also amazing! It gives amazing hold without causing build up. (I really think Camille Rose is great for all hair porosities)

Low/medium porosity hair. Loves protein free products. My hair will feel okay for first days after using a product with protein but when I use a protein free regimen my hair is soft until wash day!

I appreciate this so much!!! I have low porosity hair and recently found out that my rinse out conditioner had dimethicone in it, which is silicone. I was using Uncle Funky's Daughter. Many of their products contain glycerin in the first 5 ingredients too. So, in addition to the build up, I think I may have a glycerin intolerance because my hair was dry and brittle. I have switched to Kinky Curly and use their hydrating treatment as my deep conditioner because it contains *small* proteins and biotin, but mostly moisture. No complaints. I will be using Curlsmith's entire scalp line on wash day (4 days away!!) for the first time. I've heard great things and cannot stop smelling the products. Excitement ensues. Again, thanks for sharing. Porosity is more important than hair type, and I wouldn't wish my experience on my worst enemy.

Thanks for all the great info. I started using the Camille Rose products. Love them. To get a great shine to my hair that last about 3 days I mix Carol's daughter mimosa hair honey (a small amount) with the Camille rose curl love moisture milk...then I put the curl maker. I do this to each section...I now get so many compliments on my hair...

I have low porosity hair and I make my own hair products. I did tons of research and test to see what ingredients are best for low porosity curly hair. I formulated my own custom hair products to what my hair loves and it’s making my hair grow like no tomorrow. Def worth trying my products last me like 6-8 months and I spend less then $100 on all natural ingredients.

I think this could be another good leave in for low porosity. Can you do a review on the Aloe Hibiscus Leave-In Conditioner by Inahsi Naturals. After you mentioned the Curlsmith - Weightless Air Dry Cream I decided to look for another leave in that had Aloe Vera as well as Hyaluronic Acid Bc I am really eyeing that product. The ingredients are: “Purified Water, Aloe Vera Juice, Coconut Oil, Avocado Oil, Castor Seed Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Cetyl Alcohol, Hyaluronic Acid, Pro Vitamin B5, Hibiscus Extract, Nettle Extract, Horsetail Extract, Marshmallow Root Extract, Optiphen Plus, Natural Fragrances”.

Can you have low, mid and high porosity in sections/sides of your hair. If yes how do you treat your hair to have the same porosity.
@womana19934 жыл бұрын
You can't, that's most likely just how your hair is. Most people have varying textures/porosity. Of course, if it's caused by damage that's different

Just started learning about my hair porosity (low girl here) and my hair absolutely loves the mane choice halo line🥰 I also love the Kera Care line as well. I tried thr Curls line (blueberry bliss products) I do love their stuff but I can't use it like I do my other products cause my hair gets dry and feels rough and when I wash it it feels hard, its not soft😔 so I'm still testing out different things. Your info was very helpful 🙂 thank you!

I think im low porosity because it takes a long time for my hair to get drenched. My hair is basically never flat however, I prefer thicker products that melt in because thin products don’t do nothing for my hair.
@daisyflower15454 жыл бұрын
The float test is super confusing, my hair floated but based on how it behaves, I'll say my hair is normal porosity. I stay away from glycerine cause it makes my hair very mushy and I use small amounts of protein regularly.
@yhineidy1313 жыл бұрын
Maybe your hair dry fast because of your hair density. My sister's has thick hair and high porosity but I noticed that the hair in the middle toward the scalp would take longer to dry.

Thanks so much for this inciteful information on hair porosity. I thought I knew my hairs porosity as being low way before now, but after this video, I'm quite sure of it and realize why it acts the way that it does! I'm so glad I'm not the only one with hair that goes back and forth from wash day to wash day with the changing of the products.🤦🏽♀️😂😅😃 It'll love the combo one day, then then next wash day, it's not so sure.🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤔😔 Having fine, thin, low porosity hair is difficult to say the least.
