Hey guys! Since so many people always ask this, I figured I'd just say here that the little bits that I leave in front of my ears are called "ear tails." I mentioned them in the video, and I keep them because they're a common component of alternative mohawk styles. It's a personal preference thing, and sorry that it bugs so many of you :p

so I love the look of dreads but like.... I couldn't commit to them forever i don't think... so these tie in ones look like an amazing idea for me. but I have some questions for you. are they expensive to do? how long does it take for you to install them? is it too difficult to do at first?? what do you recommend to beginners? how long do you typically leave one set in for? how do you wash them? ... sorry this is so much... I just really love them.

+FeatherTail Rush Doing synthetic or wool dreads is perfect for not wanting to commit! So, to answer your questions: they can be expensive, yes. A full set can be as much as $200 or more. The first time it took me about six hours to do. The most recent time was maybe three. It was difficult the first couple dreads I braided in, but after a bit I got the hang of it. I used youtube tutorials to teach myself! For beginners, check out dreadlock discussion and sale groups on facebook for info and for less expensive dreads. Also have fun with it! Be patient, but also be aware that not everyone will be accepting of your hair. I leave my sets in for about 3-5 weeks. I wash them in the shower like normal, about once a week. They can be more thoroughly cleaned when they're not installed, though. I hope that helped!

I will definitely be getting them in the future but we are not allowed coloured hair at my current college so I shall have to wait a while :(. I wanted to ask, do you have to use special shampoos with synths like you do with natural dreads or can you just use normal shampoo?

Thats so sick.. luvv it. You know what I would love to see? After you take out the dreads and it's super curly, try mousing it to make it super curly and puffy I think it would look soo good. Here's what I do: I twist small section of my hair using either a straw or some other alternative object lol, then the next day it looks something like your hair after you take the dreads out, then I mix a bit of water with either mouse or curl defining gel and scrunch that into my hair, finally bring my hair down and blow dry it while scrunching it and when its dry I flip my hair back up and it's done!) Nice :) Well I usually put in around 24-26 DE that are around sharpie thickness. The thickness will affect how many you put in. I only do DE since I only know how to install them, and I like the added thickness/volume. Most people suggest 25-35 for half-installs, all depending on the thickness. Hope that helps!
