It really does add length to your hair, it's so surprising! When you braid normally without a paranda, the braid is a lot shorter (trust me I measured) and it's gives that sorta wow factor of "wow, your hair grew long really fast!) looks nice and simple way to fancy up your hair that's not bold or brash and looks great with different wools - I made two today and wearing my sparkly one now :P So thanks for the tutorial, I love it!

Ha, I actually made one and wore it right away . It is green and goes great with my red/ginger hair. The best thing: It creates amazing braid waves all the way down to the ends *~*. I am in love!

You're welcome. The green one I show is a little short. I made the red, white and blue by wrapping the yarn around a table to get a more acceptable length. I did make it for the Jubilee, yes, and I love the look of it when it's bunned. :0)

THANK YOU!!!!! I have tried and tried both to make an acceptable paranda and to use it in my hair and just couldn't seem to work it out! Thank you for showing me how to measure and cut the yarn because I kept measuring without doubling the strand and it kept being half as long as it needed to be. I love the red, white, and blue bun with the crown :-) Is that for the Queen's diamond jubilee?

It might be nice to do this with silk scarves, I'm a bit nervous about putting wool in my hair as it seems a bit rough.

Have you ever watched that great Romeo and Juliet film, from the 1960s? In the Capulet's party scene, Juliet is wearing something like this paranda braid/cord. It showed up prettily against her long, thick blue-black hair. I think she wore a pill-box cap on top of her head, with the cords extending down from the hat.

I tried this to my undercut viking hair. Failed at first but then i realised to just tie the strings straight into elastic band then use it to tie my hair and do the braid... Great succes :) Also good for men who has long hair and wish to make braid a little bit thicker. Wool is not good material. Going to try something else.

@@ArrowOdenn hey. Nothing special.. just umm some thinner and more "slippery" strings. i don't know what they are called in english. English is not my own language. Strings made out of silk or some other "slippery" material. Tried wool yesterday and when i tried to take it off it got tangled pretty tight :D

Think of the Paranda Knot as 3 big hairpins...the ends of hairpin A go thru the bend of hairpin B. Hairpin Bs ends go thru the bend of hairpin C. Hairpin Cs ends go thru the bend of hairpin A
