chanson2431 I agree!!! However, I bleached my own hair and it came out great, with as little damage as possible. BUT it took three weeks to perfect it 😂 I am not a trained professional but I did my homework and took my time, really went slower than a snails pace. I did not use any of these cheap harsh products you see in all these videos, those videos I used as a reference of what NOT to do. First, I bleached in highlights with a cap, and then left it alone for a week with doing deep conditioning reparative treatments. Then I freehand bleached more highlights around what the cap provided, to kinda blur those harsh lines out a bit. The bleach I used was a cream bleach, which has moisturizing properties, so not as harsh as a box kit or a quick blue powder. Then waited another week. Toned it using the wrong toner, since my previously dyed hair didn’t lift enough, i learned the hard way that blonde toners will not work on orange and red hair 😂 Ordered the right stuff and waited another week for it to come. That wait time was a blessing in disguise, gave me time to continue to deep condition and research more. Got the right stuff and on week three I toned my hair to a cool brown root with a dark blonde ends with soft highlights throughout. None of those videos that show how great their hair came out will show you all that trial and error. And I wouldn’t suggest anyone follow what I did, it wasn’t easy and you need a hell of a lot of patience, so I did not make a video pretending that it all came out right from the start like most do. Along the way, I posted pics for my friends to see my crazy in between red/orange hair. They got a good laugh at my expense 😂 I wanted to show that this is not as easy as just buying the stuff and doing it, far from easy actually 😂 In the end my hair feels and looks great, but that’s down to being careful with not overdoing any of the steps, buying the right stuff at a beauty supply store and not at a drug store, especially important for the bleaching process. And doing lots of deep conditioning and reparative treatments, that what I believe really saved me from over processing damage. My hair is all just about 2 levels lighter than when I started, not a huge change to anyone else but exactly what I was going for. HOWEVER, a professional could have done what I did in one sitting, it absolutely would not have taken three weeks 😂
@NativeNYerChicHK4 жыл бұрын
Also, I’ve been dying my roots for years myself to cover me early grays... But never from a drugstore box kit, only from a beauty supply store. So I do have some knowledge about this kinda stuff. This is just the first time attempting to use bleach, bleach has always scared me in the past. But being bored makes you do crazy things 😂

I wish I could post a photo here. I have been watching you for a long time now and using your tips and tricks my 14 year old has been begging me to do her hair. I do my own and I feel very confident doing my own. I've never done my daughters and have put her of for months. Last night we reached level 10 of cabin crazy and I went for it. I used bleach to give dimensions but to active two different levels I used a spray bottle of water to take out the foils I wanted to not go as light and with a towel I wetted those parts down and wiped to stop the bleaching process. Then allowed the rest to continue. I also left overall half of her natural hair untouched in between the bleaching parts. Once is was all done and washed it looked FANTASTIC, it all blended wonderful. Took me 5 hours from start to finish because I took my time and wanted to make sure I was doing it right. Her hair is very long and thick. I also didnt go upto the root, I did your method about bleach laying It definitely makes me appreciate hairdresser more. Upping my tip amount My feet and lower back was killing me Oh and her hair is still so healthy and shiny looking. Definitely needs a cut, but she needed one before this. At the age of 71, the best thing to come out of this almost-7 month shutdown is the decision I, and a lot of other women my age, have made to stop coloring and otherwise chemically treating our hair. @ We are now nearing 2025, and I am 75. My hair has turned a nice silver gray. Interestingly, I wash my hair with purple shampoo, a shampoo designed to take yellow tones and dullness out of blonde and gray hair. While it doesn’t say so anywhere on the bottle, apparently it can leave a very slight lilac hue on some hair, and that is how my hair looks now. It is so subtle that I cannot see it when I look in the mirrors in my house; but, I was in a neighbor’s bathroom which had different lighting than ours does, and I saw the lilac…and it blew my mind! I think I like it!

If you're bleaching all of your roots, where the bleach will get on your scalp, only use 20 Volume developer or lower! Many professional lighteners (bleaches) even say on the packaging to not go higher than 20 Vol for the scalp. You can also use a cream bleach instead of powder for on scalp bleaching, and that's supposed to be more gentle. I'd spend the extra money on a high-quality developer with some type of conditioning oil built in. You may have to do 2 sessions but that's better than painfully damaging your scalp and hair. Scalp damage can injure the follicles, which is where the hair strands grow from, so you could permanently lose hair from scalp damage! Wash your hair a few days before bleaching, then don't use any products and let the natural oils from your scalp build up to help protect your head. Do not use coconut or other oils or you'll just block the bleach from working. Be sure not to scratch your head at all in the time leading up to, during, and after bleaching or coloring, because you can get tiny cuts that will get very irritated and painful from the bleach. Really, you should be doing a *patch test* for any new products you use at least 24 hrs beforehand, to be sure you won't have an allergic reaction. You just mix up a tiny bit and put it on the inside of your elbow and leave for 24-48 hours, and do not use if you have any redness, irritation, etc.

A hairdresser a few years back burned my scalp about 4 years ago. She said I needed to bleach the bottom of my hair white to do a rainbow, even though I disagreed with her, she said it would hold the colours better. Anyways she left the bleach on too long, even though I was telling her I was in pain, she did nothing. Just put it this way never went back to her. Since then been doing rainbows in my naturally blonde hair without issue and without bleach at all. I just use dye remover if I want to change the colour. Never ever in all the years I have been doing my hair myself, never have I burned my scalp.

Quick blue has been around for a very long time it isn’t a bad product at all and was considered one of the best in its time. New products with better science and better ingredients on the market have become superior however :) that being said experience is what it takes for great results Also I want to add that ANY chemical service should not be painful EVER. A little discomfort like itching is very different from actual PAIN. BURNING PAIN is very different from itching! If you are experiencing pain you must wash the chemicals out IMMEDIATELY and do not apply any products that can reactivate the chemical process.

I used quick blue with salon care developer one time ( years ago), and I would never touch it again. It's so harsh ( I mean more so than any other bleach is). I now only use the ion cream lightener with its dedicated developer. It works well for me, ( natural level 6.5/ 7) is for sensitive scalp ( I only do regrowth now anyway, but I did use these products when I initially went platinum too), and I like the consistency for even bleaching. I also use Ola-plex 1, 2, and 3 during the process. I don't think I'd use any other brand except maybe Guy Tang's line ( if I could afford it lol)

Love the advice about starting at the back and letting that sit for 30 minutes, washing it, and then doing the top for 30 minutes and washing because these aren't professionals, they don't do this kind of job every day, so they're not going to be as quick and effective as a professional hairdresser. These kinds of videos are usually people who want to get things done and get good results QUICKLY, but if you want good results and you're not a professional, you should want to go a little bit slower to make sure you're going to get the results as close to what you want.

Probably unpopular opinion. When I did my daughters hair I was worried about toner and adding more developer. I used my own lavender conditioner to A. Help condition B. To tone it because I assumed once dry it might have some tones to it. Since I didn't wait to see it dry I don't know. Once we washed out my lavender conditioner and dried it not a yellow or orange tone to be found on any of the parts I used bleach on. I personally find blue or true purple leaves a very light shade behind. Lavender for whatever reason works perfectly for me

@BunBunisdundun2 жыл бұрын
Tangle Teezer, BUT start at the ENDS of your hair and gently work your way up to the scalp. I used to do hair and swear by that brush! Also, avoid brushing the hair when wet (unless you’re a curly haired person) because it’s most fragile when wet. If you MUST brush when wet, then use a very wide toothed comb to minimise breakage, and start at the ends of your hair when combing.

I bleach mine by myself and that's how I do it. If I'm feeling like taking my time, I'll even sometimes do it in quarters. Comes out much nicer in the end. If I try to do the whole thing at once, the first half is fried by the time the last part is done. It'll look kinda crazy for a few days during the process but I don't mind because the end result is better. I also prefer creme bleach and creme developer, don't know why everyone uses the powder. Creme is so much easier to apply.
