Lived it, loved it, lost it…..I was 24 (born ’57) when this track blew us away…..I must admit, it was a great track but got lost amongst so many others in the early 80s….but never forgotten. Reminds me of my great mate Dave, sadly no longer with us☀️⚓️💙

Getting to see (and meet!) the boys at their opening show of the North American tour last month (with ABC and Howard Jones) was a fulfillment of a 42-year-old bucket list item of mine. I was 13 in 1982 when Pelican West was released, and it's been in my top ten albums of all time ever since. Nick Heyward is one of the most underrated pop song writers of all time. Dude knows how to write a great hook.

Growing up as a lad in the 80’s I always loved The Jam, Madness, The Specials and all the cool bands around at that time. The likes of Haircut 100 we looked at with disdain, a band the nice clean pretty girl in your class would like. But listening to this now I can’t deny it’s a cracking tune and melody, while not differing greatly from when it was originally released the orchestra and stripped back version really enhance it. Forgive me Nick and Stacey in form 2JT.

Well there's a great amount of strain About getting on that train Every day and every night The only thing that makes it good Is seeing my favourite sight Prance and flutter stride down that green escalator, yeah When I'm getting off the train And my love is on my brain Every day and every night The only thing that makes it right Is seeing my favourite sight Crying in the night with the summer in her eyes tonight Fantastic day today Fantastic day Well I can find a funny feeling Funny as a smile When your mouth is all dry Why? Fantastic day today Fantastic day Well it's a fantastic day today Well it's a fantastic day I know I've lost myself again True love has passed me by I tried to shave myself Be a happier guy Night and day I can see it in your eyes Now the summer never smiles On a happy honey day Am I being in the way? When I'm so in love with you I can't sit down and I cry in pain We're night and day Fantastic day today Fantastic day Well it's a fantastic day today Well it's a fantastic day Well it's a fantastic day today Well it's a fantastic day

classical music cant play pop songs they cant do rhythm, the drag the orchestra is causing is destroying the groove. these orchestras are all government funded and arts council without that they all be unemployed, free unsold are handed to charities, except when an artist like nick fronts them because he can actually put bums on seats. in the 80s we were gigging at universitys and occaisonally a royal college of music dude wud ask if they cud play at the next gig. but they wud never turn up because of stage fright
