That last girl is NOT her friend. That is her bully. She just doesn’t realize it yet. _Really_ hard watch. She’s clearly taking joy in her pain, and continues to just chop off her hair while she’s crying. If this were a parent, I’d call it abuse.

Fortunately the one getting her hair cut actually said “You’re not my friend anymore.”. I think she realized the brutality.

I’m not a hairstylist but, I cut my family’s hair for years. When our daughter was about 12 she asked if she could have her hair cut professionally, I said “Of course” and took her to have it done. This was long before Google reviews. I watched the stylist and realized pretty quickly that she wasn’t doing a very good job. I didn’t say anything for a couple of reasons.. first, our daughter had beautiful long hair and she hadn’t cut much off. I didn’t want to criticize the stylist and have it turn into a hatchet job. Next, our daughter had asked for a professional cut and I didn’t want to interfere with that experience. Lastly, I knew I could fix it if our daughter wanted me to. As soon as we got home I said “Well, what do you think?” She reached down and grabbed a longer piece that clearly hadn’t gotten cut and said “Mom! Please fix it!” It took a few more years before she wanted to go back to a stylist. Only this time we found a great one.. and we both ended up going to her.

My biggest complaint about salons is that too many stylists DO NOT LISTEN to the needs of the client. You can bring a photo, use the actual real jargon, you can say I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT WANT _________ and they do not listen. It's as if they say, "I will do it how i think it will look good, screw the client."

I have had stylists literally just do anything they want and ignore my wishes completely . I will never forget the day I came out of a salon looking like "The little Dutch Boy" on an old-timey cleanser. My sweet husband who never says an ugly thing to anyone looked at me and said, "Oh, no." It's funny now, but I burst into tears then. I had asked for a trim and to keep the same style. Six inches were cut and my head looked like a triangle!!! lol @@christinerewell9954

@@christinerewell9954But that’s not what OP was saying. There’s a big difference between the stylist saying “Hey, this may not come out the way you want it on your type of hair. I could do something similar or just go ahead with the cut anyway if you really want” and deciding they know what’s best and to not even say anything to the client. They were pointing out that some hair stylists do NOT listen to the client’s wishes whatsoever, even if it is very possible to do on the hair.

Yup my mom is a hairdresser & she is great. But I went to a cheap salon and the girl there completely effed up my hair, basically gave me a men's short cut when I showed her a photo of a bob. Now I just cut it myself because my mom lives too far from me and I am too traumatized to go to someone I dont know again lol

I have naturally curly hair too. I grew up not knowing what to do with it, just like her. And I absolutely hated it. It wasn't until covid that I decided to embrace both my curly AND gray hair. I watched several videos on how to properly care for it. I never knew that my hair was starved for moisture and needed creams and gels to manage it. (Also learned that its better to use a hair pick than a brush or comb when dry.) Anyway now I love my hair! It's sad that it took me *61 years* to finally love what God gave me!

I have the exact same hair as this young lady. It came from my paternal grandfather so no one knew what to do with it. My hair was a big frizzy hot mess. The best thing I did was to embrace the curls with loads of gel! 😂 I stopped blow drying and straightening and gave its lots of nourishment. It took about 4 years for it to reach below my waist but it was so worth it! ♥️🙏

@tma444 Mine has survived a similar length of time, I'm scared to have it cut so it's way past my shoulders, it's kept it's natural colour and curl. I put this down to healthy neglect. It gets washed every 5 to 6 days, dries naturally, never brushed between washes ( I do ensure there are no tangles), and most of the time it is pinned up.I'm sure if it was short I'd be too curly to cope😂

I have to wonder if that "friend" is messing her hair up on purpose, it doesn't even look like she's trying just cutting randomly. The girl with the dry, curly hair should invest her time and money in finding a decent stylist to show her how to upkeep her hair since her family is just as lost as she is about it. Good luck ladies and go to the salon! lol

Adding layers can help depending on the weight and curl of your hair. I had breast length wavy hair and it would sometimes get weighed down at the root and pyramid out. I gave myself a shag cut and it now sits a lot nicer and to my tastes. It’s not a suggestion, but just a note in case you’re interested. Edit: I do want to say it could also make it go “ball” shaped instead, so just be warned that only add layers if you have thicker and wavy hair, not thin and curly.

I decided that I couldn't do worse than them and at least I'd not have to pay...in the end I did a phenomenal job doing every aspect and have been doing it since. I've received multiple compliments about how my hair was layered and always the person asked me where I'd had it done and I told them "Chez Moi!"😂 They didn't usually get the joke so I had to explain I do it at my house myself! The last time I've been to a hairdresser was 2 years ago. I had an appointment for balayage 2 days before new years eve. I explained to the hairdresser that I didn't wanted my roots to be bleached or dyed, just to blend upwards the bleached part ( so it looks more natural), I also told her I wanted a warmer, more natural blonde. She said nothing against or had any suggestions and started. Long story short she straight up bleached my hair leaving my roots out, without the proper balayage technique and had just bleached hair. The toner did nothing and she didn't wanted to fix it. So after I went home I fixed my hair and turned out way better than at the salon! Ofc, there are amazing hairdressers and I wish I had an experience with one who knows their profession and not just doing it for the money and not actually having a passion for doing hair!

Only 3 times with mistakes at the hair salon? How about 3 decades of mistakes? My hair is not curly, difficult, thin. Just average healthy hair. No split ends. No blow drying. No crazy demands. Nothing super stylish or vogue. Just shoulder length hair with some layers. Found Carlibell’s tutorial on cutting layers while retaining length about 8-10 years ago and never looked back. Don’t enjoy cutting my own hair but at least I am never disappointed, didn’t have to disrupt an entire day for a 30 minute appointment and I’m not out a week’s worth of grocery money.

That cut was popular late 80s/early 90s and perm if you didn't have that texture. My mom forced it on me as a pre-teen. I had enough to be bullied about and this just added more. My hair has been long ever since and for many years I straighted my curls to be as far away from this as possible. Now I don't straighten but it's not as curly as hers and I don't go to the salon because there's always parts that remind me of this pyramid at the ends!

My hair is very straight and very long. I like to braid it to keep it out of my way while at work. Because of that, i didn't want layers because that makes little tufts of hair stick out of the braid. But sooo msny stylists or dressers insist on putting layers in it. It took me a long time to find a stylist who didn't dictate my style and listened to me and worked with me till i got the braid-friendly style i love now.

I just had a huge hair fail at a salon. She redid it for free, but the second time was also a fail. Due to her not knowing what a product was and she grabbed like a purple toner? And it did not actually give me the purple weave that I wanted. So we schedule again for 3rd attempt and a total of approximately 7-8 hours over the course of 2 days. And now I have a big strip right down the middle of my head that has no color, and it’s almost like a skunk stripe but my natural color. And she did not have an Even part when she started. I mentioned this to her when she started and her response was it doesn’t matter. And she thinned out A LOT which I didn’t want. And it’s WAY shorter then I asked for. I asked for shoulder length she gave me chin length. And I have absolutely no hair underneath at the nap of my neck. And not to mention 1 crazy long piece that she missed but with how I style it know one notices that crazy long piece of hair that should have been layered with my Bangs, I don’t normally wear bangs but she gave me bangs 🤨😏 for $200 she isn’t worth the money or the time.

I’ve had so many stylists not listen, not ask for more info when I was “I want it cut to here”, cut it lopsided, or 20+ years ago listen to my parents when they’d say ignore them and cut it to here… now I cut it myself and if I mess it up it’s gone grow back after I attempt to salvage it… my most recent cut turned into a pixie cut 😅lol

A lot of people who have very difficult hair go to budget hair salons and not many hairdressers are very experienced with curly or difficult hair, at budget hair salons. Sometimes you have to pay a little more to get what you want and a more experienced stylist.

Cutting a straight line can also look good with curls, it depends on the curl type and how much hair you have at all. Last week i had a client with beautiful long, curly hair and she looked like an angel with her compact haircut. ❤

I had about the same hairstyle for 2 hours in the 80s. I had very long, permed hair, the master hairdresser put on me a cape with curved lines and told her trainee to cut off at the bottom line. And the trainee took the top one instead. 😭 Oh god it was terrible, I looked like my own grandmother. 🤣 After the hairdresser tried to save it for two hours, I finally end with a mule but at least it suited me.

My grandmother, who was a hair stylist most of her life, she would refuse to give a bride or anyone a drastic new haircut, dye job ect..a week or less before a big event like a wedding. If a bride wanted to use her service, she required the bride/person to come in a minimum of 4 weeks before the wedding/event if they want any drastic change so if it isn't what the person wanted, there is 4 weeks to attempt to fix it. She told me a story about one of her first jobs for a majour event and the bride wanted to go blond, she insisted to go platinum, but the bride had almost black hair, my grandmother told her that isn't not going to look like the photo the bride brought in. But the bride insisted. (Her wedding was in 4 days, she waited for the last minute because she wanted her hair to be "fresh") So my grandmother did what she was told (also because the bride complained to my grandmothers boss), the hair came to near platium but it was so dry that it almost crunched. The bride complained to the boss, and the boss told her she was warned it wouldn't come out right but she insisted. If she had come in a few weeks sooner my grandmother could have did a couple deep conditioning treatments over the following weeks between the bleaching and wedding and she could have had time to tone it or whatever...after that, thats when my grandmother made her 4 week minimum rule. She made a lot of career long clients that way. She did one womans wedding hair, then 20 years later got to do that womans daughters wedding hair. I thought that was pretty cool. I was always jealous of people who could find hair stylist that could work their hair to practical perfection and get to stay with them for decades.

@Hair Buddha - We ♥️ animals in my family too! We had 3 dogs and 3 cats until about a month ago. I say until about a month ago NOT because we lost any of them (THANKFULLY), but because we adopted a “baby beardie” (bearded dragon) for my daughter. But guess who takes care of the little dude? Yep! You guessed it! MOM! Just like with all the other fur babies in the house! 😂 But truth? I love it, and although it’s a lot of work (had no idea how much extra work the beardie would be. You have to buy and feed crickets too in order to feed the dragon!) he’s SUPER CUTE and it’s getting easier as time passes. But yeah, animals are the best and make life so much better! ❤
