I'm Japanese! All Japanese girls are good at cutting bangs. If I give advice to foreigners, ①Reduce the amount of hair. First of all, foreigners pick their hair too often. It's okay to be half-hearted. ② Do not pull! If you cut your hair while pulling it, it will be cut short, so hold it gently! ③ Do not cut too short from the beginning. Once you've reached the nose, use the scissors vertically and cut little by little! keep it up!

pro tips because ive been cutting random bangs on myself for a long time : 1. always start with less hair and dont cut too short then add more layers if you want your bangs thicker, the reason you shouldn't cut too much is because its better longer so you can style thek with curlers.2 always try to make the bangs IN THE MIDDLE part of your hair 3i don't know about this one but my bangs always look better when i dont cut them wet so i just leave them dry to see the real length of bangs 4 always ALWAYS look at the ways you can hide the bangs if you dont like them . thats all i cant remember any more

But shears, or that is, hair scissors, actually cut the hair instead of just snapping it. To give you a better picture, imagine yourself picking a flower, and you picked the flower by hand. Typically, on the part where you broke the flower from the stem, the end is slightly frayed. But if you used actual gardening shears, the line is clean with no stringy bits. Same goes for hair when using kitchen scissors vs shears.

a good piece of advice is to just never ever cut bangs shorter than your eyebrows, or longer than the tip of your nose. i don’t know if this is a common rule of thumb but i kinda just came up with it after cutting my own bangs for a year. and, bangs will look really bad for the first week that you have them. that’s because you cut your hair, so the ends are very blunt. just give it a week and the ends will grow slightly and look less straight.

I chopped my microbangs and a good tip is to always cut the hair on the front of your head (the same plane as curtain bangs would be) rather than from the middle of your head. Also, cut them slightly longer so it will be easier to even out the bangs

I got bangs without my mom’s permission at age 14, and she hated them and wanted me to grow them out but I liked the way they framed my face. She agreed to let me keep them if she was the one who would trim them when they got too long. She would always cut them WAY above my eyebrows and it looked so awkward (looking back she either did this because she wanted me to be turned off to the idea of bangs or she genuinely didn’t know what she was doing lol) One day when I asked my mom if she could not trim them as short, my older sister heard us and then she offered to do it for me. Not only did she cut them at the same length as my mom, but she made them super crooked. It was after that cut that, at age 16, that I finally decided that I was gonna learn how to trim my own bangs and I have been doing it myself ever since. I’m 24 now, and to this day, I believe that getting bangs was one of the best decisions I ever made for myself

Big tip if your cutting your front pieces into bangs: Cut the two pieces longer than you want it. because if its too long, you can always cut more of it off. hope this helps
