@8675-__ Жыл бұрын
Exactly! Keep it old fashioned looking.
@shutupshelley179311 ай бұрын
I disagree. To me, her mix of traditional and modern is absolutely not seamless and, in fact, isn't at all complimentary to the home's origin. If I were ever to buy that house from her after her renovation, the first thing I would do would be to replace all those awful, modern light fixtures that seem to be flipping off the stately integrity of that marvelous old home. They're so laughably wrong for this home and stick out so like a sore thumb that they distract from the original interior architecture instead of sticking to their purpose of sophisticated illumination of it. Next I would dim down that aggressively yellow paint color in the entryway and then I would merrily tear down that comically horrible wallpaper in the kitchen. (There are absolutely COUNTLESS* wallpaper designs out there... and she chose *THAT*?? 🙄 Wow.) And while I love the dining table, the chairs...oy! The chairs... again distracting from the rest of the room and simply not auspicious in any sense. Naturally, that's just my opinion, of course, although I'll note I'm well-schooled in art and design, not that that will matter to anyone, but maybe it should.😉 Obviously, we all have our different preferences and sense of what looks good, I'm just a true believer in celebrating and respecting the history and architecture of an older home by reflecting that more than less in its interior design. The End 🤗

Fun little piece of minutiae: when Betsy was talking about how hard it was to deal with the tin ceiling panels in the kitchen, she didn’t mention that Wheeling, W.V. was actually home to the largest manufacturer of tin ceiling panels in the US in the late 1800s, roundabout when the building boom of this kind of home was getting underway. So there’s a really good chance that the original installer would have been able to go get the panels at the local distributor hot off the press right there in their hometown.

The uncertainties accompanying this present market is more reasons I have my daily investment decisions guided by a portfolio-coach seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time, both employing profit-oriented strategy and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downtrends, coupled with the exclusive analysis, it's quite impossible not to outperform. Love this home. Being renovated beautifully and furnished to live in with style. Some people get caught up with the period and end up living in a museum. Nice to see people in the US starting to appreciate their older homes as you have some gems well worth preserving. In the UK older homes are appreciated and often sell for more than their newer counterparts. Hopefully this trend will start in the US as it would be such a shame to tear down any more architectural gems.

It looks so unique and great 😍 we renovated a house from the 1890s in northern germany and totally get what a time consuming but rewarding process it is.

It is absolutely amazing that she has restored this beautiful old lady. Artwork and light fittings are not what I would have chosen for such a grand old dame. Good work.

I love that she didn’t tear everything out. She kept things that came with the house and it looks beautiful and appropriate for the building. Refreshing.

I am absolutely obsessed with how Betsy renovated her home but didn't erase the historic features. Most people would create a modern kitchen, but Betsy really made a beautiful, functional kitchen that retains the vintage charm of the home. VERY well done.

Wow I was hoping to see this place again. The house itself is stunning and amazing work has been done but the decor is … I have no words.

I only watched the house prior to the restorations yesterday, so watching the finished video today is a spin, it looks amazing. My daughter has just got married & I sent her the cheapest houses website yesterday as well, thank you so much.

Wow, what an awesome renovation and fun video, Monica! Betsy did it fabulous job! I love that she included choices that invoked feelings and memories for her. I would have gone with a lighter wallpaper in the kitchen, but it is stunning and what she loves, so she chose the right one! I’m curious to know if she ever feels the presence of spirits in the home. I am guessing, (hoping?) that if she does, they are friendly ones, lol! 😊❤

This video is very well thought out and edited. The way that the interview was intertwined into the home tour at points of relevance is great

My father is from Wheeling, WV. He left as a teenager in 1940. Thank you for showing it off!

I was born and raised in Wheeling, not THIS part, and lived there until I was 23. The neighborhood this house is in is the most sketchy, drug infested, dangerous, low income, homeless shelter area in Ohio County. Not trying to burst anyone's bubble but it's where u DO NOT go once it starts getting dark. The upside is the police department is only a couple blocks away, but the hospital close to there closed down, so if u get shot, u have a little ride to the hosp. I'm not exaggerating or being mean. It's 100% facts.

I was wondering about that, thanks for your comment.

@hsmd4533 it sucks because some of the houses in that park of town were beautiful old Victorian homes. Wheeling was the capital of WV, so the upper crust built huge homes here. There was a booming economy here with lots of industry. Businesses left, coal mines closed, industry shut down, and now it is a different story. Sad, but true

The more people who do what Betsy is doing the better the neighborhood will become👌!!! "Let's run um out 'o town Virgil!"😂
