I recently turned 26 and have a lot more responsibilities on my plate (like paying for my own health insurance now!!). With a new job and home renovations in full swing, I am trying to track what I spend in a week on a budget, so I can get a better understanding of my personal finances and where I can save more.

I know $500 is still quite a large budget for a week, but I wanted to start with an attainable goal rather than something super extreme. Now that I know I can go much more below that, I want to see if I can budget down to spending $200 a week. Let me know in the comments if you'd like to see that!

A fun video for you to do would be a ranking of your career moves like James Charles and Laurdiy did! Since you have such a vast history on youtube like Just like That, flipping out, the twin channel, going on GMA, the podcast, having purple hair be your brand, DIYs, scripted content- I think it could be really interesting how you evolved and how you think different genres/moves helped or hurt your success and trajectory! As a long time viewer I would find your analysis really interesting

I don’t typically comment on KZbin videos, but after reading some of the comments on this one, I just wanted to say - don’t ever feel like you need to apologize for your success. Success is not a finite resource, and your success does not take away from anyone else’s. Keep doing you, girl!

Don't go into Target unless you know what you want. Seriously, the store is so appealing that I only let myself go in there maybe once every three months for Up and Up garbage bags, toilet paper, and laundry detergent. You walk in and the good smells from Starbucks (in-store) are the first temptation. Go past there and avoid that impulse row of things for $1 or $2 because none of those things are necessities--they are little decor items that serve no purpose other than being cute. Don't go in the jewelry or the purses or the clearance of fast-fashion clothes. Stick with food and paper products and cleaning products or you will be lost to the allure...

It would be interesting if you do another one of these but instead of starbucks maybe go to a cafe or something and see if its cheeper there, also supermarkets usually have a fresh ready made section like sandwitches and salads and a bakery section that you can get things from where I am and they generally cost 1/3 of the price :) :) But you did a pretty good job of trying to spend less and I like how you kept it achievable at the same time :) :)

One tip is to take $500 from the atm every week and spend that cash. Or start with $600 if it's easier. It's so easy to spend money with credit cards, but using cash can help to control impulse buys.

Please don't leave yourself that low on gas. My mom told me a story that once one of the neighborhood kids busted his head open while playing and the other kids came knocking on her door. She had to rush him to hospital but she had to stop for gas on the way while he was bleeding out everywhere in her car. She would always leave her car on E before that time. Ever since she fills up when she's down to a quarter or half tank just in case of an emergency. Now she lives 1 hour outside the city so it's even more important. You never know what's going to happen and you don't want to stop for gas on the way to getting emergency intervention. She told me this when I started driving and I live by it. Never thought I'd use that tip, but It came in handy just last year when I husband got home from work complaining of chest pain, he was having serious heart palpitations and I had to rush him to the ER. I would have been so upset if I had to stop for gas while my husband was having a potential heart attack in the passenger seat.

I find that meal prep boxes like blue apron and others don’t work well for one person. I live by myself and find it inconvenient that usually the lowest possible number of portions you can get is 6-8 depending on the brand. I end up forcing myself to make all of the food before it goes bad, rather than actually enjoying it. More often than not, I’m tired and want something convenient, like you did with the pizza. I wish you could buy these with only 1-2 meals but I understand why the companies don’t offer that.
