I’ve noticed in a lot of your videos that you’re someone who obviously loves the sun and “nice” weather. But there’s so many people who are really drawn to and enjoy the gloomy, rainy, “bad” weather of the PNW. I think especially as a real estate agent now, it’s important to remember that not everyone craves the sunshine all the time. I say this as someone from Newport Beach, CA who isn’t a fan of the perpetual sunshine and craves the dreary weather of the PNW. Great video!

I grew up in the Bay Area, moved to Boston for school and then to Seattle for the foreseeable future :) Seattle is surrounded by water and mountain ranges making a lot of amazing hiking/outdoors experience so accessible while still living in an urban area. I also prefer the gloominess over Boston's frigid winters and humid summers.

I was thinking about Boston and Seattle lol and the frigid winters of New England make me question is it worth it to be miserable 😂, but then the rainy gloom all yea also make me wonder if ill be depressed being there 😂maybe i should just reconsider my choices 😂

@eviltwin7072 2 жыл бұрын
@@Mandy-cn8sq The gloom is the most overrated thing in Seattle. It's not as gloomy as people say. In terms of inches of rain, it rains less here than in the midwest. It mists and drizzles in the winter (we are in the middle of a temperate rain forest), then we have dry, blissful summers. Spring and autumn exist, but barely - mostly we have a wet season and a dry season.

@@eviltwin7072 yea I been up here since early April so I caught a couple months of the rainy season and it's not that bad as they make it seem. I can relate both to "sort of" being from here, in that I was born as raised in Spokane, and to being/feeling like a transplant, in that after I left Spokane to join the Army at age 18 in 1978, I lived in so many different places in the US and around the world. I finally ended up in the Puget Sound area (via then-Ft. Lewis) in the Army in 1988, left the Army in 1990, and settled in Seattle in 1991. (It feels ironic to me now that I've lived in the Seattle city proper longer than I've lived anywhere else!) Your video touched on so many good points, and the one about the Seattle Freeze resonated with me. I've found that finding friends through shared interests and activities really helped me to start to overcome the "Freeze". But people here are definitely reserved, in my experience, much like in a lot of Northern European places. But I'm constantly amazed by the fantastic natural beauty of the region and I really love living in a city by the water.

Funny I had a nightmare and felt uneasy told myself I wanted to watch Monica she’ll make me relax and here we are! I’m originally from southern Illinois, moved to Texas one semester didn’t have a great education experience so I went to Indiana. I love my teachers but man do I hate the area I’m in. I always thought I hated home but whenever I go back I realize how much I love it! Most people are taught to move away but I’m definitely moving back once I’m done with undergrad and hope to stay close if I choose to continue on. I was literally dreaming about being at home but had to either call off of work or drive back and make it just in time to clock in. I say I want to move try Seattle all the time but who knows maybe I will maybe I won’t.

I was born and raised in Seattle, and while I love that so many people now understand why we have always been so proud of our city, I admit that it is in many ways entirely different from when I grew up. That's fine, life moves on, things change. I chose to leave Seattle because of the weather, and because it was growing too fast for me once the tech companies took over. I like to tell people that when I was a kid the tallest building in Seattle was the Smith Tower (happy that your friend liked that building!) Then came the Sea-First building, which was renamed SAFCO Plaza. We called it 'the box the Space Needle came in,' because it was this big ugly black box that was around 50 stories high. I don't know what it is called now. Anyway, happy to watch your videos to remind me that while I no longer want to live in Seattle, it is still a great city and a wonderful place to live for so many.

I was born and raised in California. Moved to Iowa after college then moved to the Seattle area right before the pandemic hit. Alot of the aspects that were described in your video I felt aren't unique to just moving to Seattle. Even though the midwest is known to have friendly people, it still felt like a "Seattle Freeze". It was hard for me to make friends and I had to really try by intentionally putting myself out there. Most of my friends in Iowa are the people I worked with but that friendship did not build easily and most of them are also transplants to that area. People were always nice to your face but they would rarely invite you to go do anything with them or hangout outside of work. It wasn't because they were mean but because they were comfortable with their set of friends they've made over the years of living there. I feel the same way here in Seattle. The pandemic definitely didn't help though in making new friends so only time will tell. I loved all the places I've lived so far. Each place has their own unique characteristics and charm! But so far I've been loving Seattle even during this pandemic!! :D FYI, west coast best coast =P

I was born and raised in Victoria, BC which is just across the border from Port Angeles, Washington .. super close to Seattle. I’ve always liked Seattle but it’s too close to where I was born and raised. I prefer sunnier climates and don’t mind the snow ❄️ as well. I’m not a huge fan of rain 🌧 since I was born and raised with it in Victoria … but now live in Madison, Wisconsin which I love. Winters here are much colder with snow plus we also get a lot more sunshine here as well. But Seattle is a really awesome high tech city.

I've never lived in Seattle, only visited, and only made friends because my partner knew someone there. It's hard to make friends anywhere after college- that has been my experience everywhere I've lived (Portland, Miami, the Midwest, the South, etc.) As one of the girls said, and as my experience has been as well- it's easier if you already know someone there, because then you can meet new people through their friends

@@marystravellife I think London would be easiest because of the language, but I also really enjoyed my visits to Copenhagen. Most probable might be Zurich though because my husband has Swiss citizenship (even though he’s American born), and Switzerland is central. I love France and Italia too, but would likely just visit regularly. My sister-in-law lives in Berlin but I didn’t like it there too much. What part of Europe are you from? I'm moving to Seattle from NYC in a few months and I can't wait! I grew up in Wisconsin, then spent the last 11 years in NYC and after being cooped up for 2 years, decided it was time for a change of scenery (and coast). I've visited a lot of places in the US, but Seattle and Austin were the only two I ever thought I could move to. And honestly, Austin gets way too hot (despite the incredible food), so I think I made the right choice :)
