For real? If so, I knew the one on the right looked familiar! She looked so much like Tracy because of the hair.

I like the wink and nod to them. As the first ones to play Tracey on film. They even got special versions of the shop attendant uniforms!

Theatres are now open again. The industry has lost a large amount of money and is no longer disposed to post free shows.

@@brianaustin5467 Theatres are now closed again. Ain't too proud, Diana, Waitress, Beetlejuice, Frozen, Jagged little pill, Colored Man, Mean girls (only Broadway) closed or have only couple last shows. Hundreds of people without job. Maybe new technology and proshots can help and find new peoples for survive this industry. I saw my first live theatre musical because of this channel and other online proshots/concert and musicals/theatres Instagram/KZbin or Facebook accounts. Many don't know about this industry or live on small cities without theatres like me and this option can start something new in our live. Please think about this ❤️

Yeah - getting to a theatre to watch a musical live is really only an option for people who live in New York or London; even the tours rarely leave the US or UK. Very few musicals ever get to Sweden, and those that do are usually just the big classics. For the vast majority of people, the prospect of actually watching a show live is simply not realistic.

@@awmperry However the point is that theatres are commercial enterprises and seek cash flow. Some theatres are closing temporarily but things are not going to return to the early Covid position. Many theatres and producers are now setting up pay per view or subscription channels. The days of the free handouts are over.

@@OlaOla-ct4nu I think that youi have answered your own point. On line distribution will probably be the answer, at least one such channel advertises here. However this will not be produced free of charge.

God bless whomever decided that Harvey Fierstein's performance as Edna Turnblad should be immortalized on film!!!! I fully expect a stream of protests from the Travolta fans, but I have to say that making that film without Harvey was unforgivable. I'll concede that Travolta did the best he could, but in the end, it was merely stunt casting. They should have moved Heaven and Earth to accomodate the scheduling conflicts that kept Fierstein from participating. Harvey took on Edna with a great respect for Divine (John Water's muse and the original Edna) and ultimately made Edna his own. The word "iconic" is way too overused nowadays, but there really isn't a better alternative to describe how beloved Harvey became to everyone that fell in love with the Broadway musical. It's appalling that this "Hairspray Live!" production nearly made the same mistake (Fierstein himself has said that his name was nowhere near the top of the list of actors the producers wanted) and had Harvey not already been involved with adapting the show for television, he likely wouldn't have been offered to play his signature role here.
