This musical made me doubt Ariana’s ability to play Glinda, but today, more than ever, I give her the flowers she deserves. Her evolution as an actress and the effort she put into becoming this character is simply flawless. I’m beyond excited to see what she has in store as an actress in the future.

@nyrea8163 Well, I had only seen her act in Hairspray and Don’t Look Up. In Don’t Look Up, her role was quite small, and in Hairspray, I’d even say she didn’t do a great job. So, I really had my doubts. But, as I said, you can tell how much effort she put into this role. She did the work that was needed and absolutely nailed it. Brava!

Believe it or not, she tans like this naturally. You can look up pictures of her as a kid and she looks just as tan as this. (Yes, there are times she’s overdone it with tanning but this is exactly how she naturally tans)

They really should have taken the tanner off Ariana and made her look more the role

Ariana is talented, but she was badly cast in this role. This musical focuses a lot on race. During this time period Ariana was getting spray tans to appear darker. Even if you want to argue that she naturally tans because she's Italian, there was still discrimination against Italians, some people didn't even consider Italians to be white. Her being this tan in this role does not make her look passable as someone from English ancestry, as I'm assuming the character is meant to be. It makes me laugh when they describe the character as having skin as white as snow, especially since some of the African-American female characters have her same skin tone. Maybe if she looked more like how she does now in Wicked it would be ok.
