Hello ladies, I hope you're having a great day! My apologies for the music issue in this video, I just realized it wasn't in the right place and understand it may be difficult to hear me where is was placed. Hopefully you can still enjoy the video. Also, if you have had to change your hairstyle and its care as you have aged, please share how you did that 🌹

Wow! I’m 72 but my hair story is an exact copy of yours! And most people do not understand the challenges we have dealing with thin, fine hair! I also had lovely hair when I was young…..fine but nice to style. After menopause my hair thinned so much it was shocking. Now it’s a struggle to keep my style to last a day or even create what I’m wanting some days!Haha. When you mentioned you can’t re-comb and be able to recreate your style….I totally related! Once it’s gone….it’s gone! Every problem you brought up is one I also deal with!!! The really nice thing? It’s so comforting to know I’m not alone and God expects us to be thankful and joyful regardless the amount of hairs on our heads! I always joke….doesn’t take God long to count the hairs on MY head!!!

I have always had very straight and fine texture hair. It use to be alot thicker than it is now. One trick I have been doing for years is I use a hairdryer with a diffuser on it. When I dry my hair I flip my head over and dry underneath first. I then flip my hair over and use a brush to style around my face. I finish with hairspray. I live where it is very humid in warmer months but this works for me. You are beautiful. All the hair styles look lovely on you.

Hi Nikki, all your hairstyles are beautiful, I do like the curly and upstyle the most. As a retired hairstylist, I can appreciate how much work it is to keep fine hair curly. I have semi-fine hair but it's curly so I put my hair in large rollers to soften my curls, my hair is almost to my waist. Have a great day Love

I liked the little curling iron look best! I have very fine hair as well (but with some natural wave/curl) and I have had great luck with foam rollers that look like pool noodles that you can bend. (Not sure how else to describe them). I picked them up at the dollar store and use them on barely damp hair at night, or sometimes for a few hours in the morning (barely damp hair again). It curls up tight (Shirley Temple) but hangs out fairly quick to soft curls and I can easily get two days out of a setting. My hair is about your length. Normally I use hot rollers because my husband *loves* the vintage look it gives, but sometimes I want a few days from my hair, or just a break from the heat styling. I’m not sure I’ve commented before, I save your videos to watch while getting ready for the day. Always lovely!

Hello Nikki... I love how you said as we get older our hair changes and that bouncy young hair we had was for a season and we need to work with it and see what it needs. That helped me so much as I do have to put more work into the everyday hair to get fullness or a style. I loved all your styles. You know how to frame your face. My favorite was the tight curls and pink dress. Beautiful! Love the dress too. Thank you for another encouraging and beautiful video. 🌸 nancy

For what its worth, I've seen hot rollers or steam rollers available that aren't damaging for thin fine hair and letting the hair set creates a longer lasting wave. Sometimes doing overnight styles with wet hair doesn't work because, even thin and fine hair like ours, retains too much moisture that isn't able to fully evaporate and causes the waves to fall out faster.
@TheLadyoftheHouse2 жыл бұрын
I've used both in the past. I think the hot ones worked the best for me. I'll have to look into them again!

Hi Nikki- I’ve actually let mine grow from a pixie to a chin length bob as I’ve aged. I also stopped coloring my hair which had faded from red to blonde…. My hair is thinner and more of a fine texture. I’ve learned to use a big round brush with my hair dryer to add volume and mousse and root pump.

My hair is the opposite of yours, it’s very thick and coarse and wavy. I love my hair long and flowing as well but it got to a point where it was so much work I stopped doing hairstyles and just put it in a bun. After my 31st birthday I finally decided to cut it and it’s so much fun shorter and I actually take the time to style it. It’s currently an asymmetrical wavy bob and I’m loving it!

I personally had thyroid issues and I believe they went undiagnosed for sometime. After a lot of research I switched to natural cleaning products and stopped using dryer sheets etc. I don't have scientific data but I have noticed a positive difference in my hair thinning. With that being said I never had thick hair and so I've also appreciated a shoulder length or shorter hair style to add swing and fullness.

Fridays style was my favorite, and I loved the updo. You would look so beautiful and elegant with a perm Nikki! I got one a few years back and they aren’t nearly as damaging as they used to be back in the day. I loved the volume and how quickly I could fix my hair every morning. It always looked beautiful in any type of updo, of course updos always work best when starting with curly hair. I’ve never had as many compliments on my hair as I did in that period of time when it was permed. Anyway loved the video and you look beautiful as always.

Having very similar hair type and cut, this was great for me to watch; THANK YOU, Nikki. My fave by far is Friday's style and you are right about hair damage, so it's wise to limit this. One thing that I use to extend the waves a bit is at night, putting on a light mist of hairspray and then using a satin/silk bouffant cap to sleep in (on Amazon). Next morning, hold head unpside down and spritz a bit more spray, doing a crimp-and-hold maneuver as it dries. NO brushing, use fingers only to shape. Sometimes I can get another fairly decent day. This kind of hair is temperamental, so I cannot be sure!! Thank you for the details you shared. I want to also try your up-do--so cute--all are cute, because you are; thanks again. 🍃

Hello Nikki and dear ladies, I really enjoyed this video. I always marveled at how one can take time and creativity to do her hair daily/nightly. You see, I happen to have really long, thick, and curly/wavy hair (even now into my 30's). But wait, before anyone thinks "oh she's bragging..." Please let me make my point. I do nothing, absolutely nothing to it. No tools, no products, nothing; daily. Just shampoo. Now you tell me, is that glamorous?! Ladies, if you have habits like Nikki for fine thin hair, know I am lovingly jealous. You do so many lovely things. I guess I could too, but my hair seems to live in a bun daily. Oh such incredible hair (I roll my eyes) but no one ever gets to see it. And why not? I'm motivated by you Nikki, to put effort into my hair just for feminine sake! I'm sure my husband would love it and my four little children can learn to wait while mama styles ;) Your videos are always greatly appreciated. God bless.

Such a nice hair video! I have fine hair and am in the process of letting it grow out from a very short hair style. My lady friends all have short (what I call senior citizen hair🤣) and they are all very verbal about my keeping my hair short., I am ignoring them because I personally do not feel feminine with short hair. I also have white hair that I let grow out a few years ago. So I am letting it grow and blunt cut it. I have discovered that I cannot deviate from blunt cut. I am anxiously waiting for it to be long enough to wear up. I am going to be honest with you….. I really liked all your hair styles. I like the fact that you do so many different styles with it in a week. I am intrigued by the up do that was wrapped and a little hanging down. I think that would work with my hair, (maybe👵🏻) if I can figure out how to do it. Your face is so beautiful that each style can balance out your appearance for a different look. The older I get the more I am settling into I will do what makes me feel good, and how I see myself as feminine.
@TheLadyoftheHouse2 жыл бұрын
I feel that would be me as well, there is something about having it just a little longer that feels more feminine to me, especially being able to do it in different ways so I don't go too short with the a-line style in the back. Thank you for your many kind compliments, you're very sweet!

This is very timely. I’ve had a pixy cut for quite a while and my daughter and sister said I should grow it out again. My issue with longer hair is that once it got to a certain length I’d just pull it back in a ponytail or bun. Which I figured wasn’t very much of a style since I did that all the time. My shorter hair has more style. And I could wash and fluff my hair and it would be perfect. My hair is my better feature but only after I had 3 kids😆😆. But I’m giving length a try!! Having longer hair requires more time and effort to style but I think I can handle it now. Now that my kids are much older and don’t need me as much😆👩🏻🦱👧🏻🧒🏻💆🏻♀️ I haven’t needed to curl my hair in years but with longer hair coming I’ll try it again. And blow drying is usually a once a year thing. I did find out that it keeps oily hair at bay for a while longer. I love your vintage look! ❤️

Think about a plant when you rack around it, to air the roots a bit. Just try if you have a chance. Also love the idea of curl pinning. I totally know what you mean about realizing that a certain hairstyle that you like a lot and have been doing for a while is just not the best for you. For several years I wore my hair in a short chic bob. It was angled very sharply from the back of my head to my jaw line, and I had very strong, very straight, very bold bangs. I have fair skin and dark hair and I just thought it was a great look. It was my signature style and the way people knew me. Then I took a dance class where they filmed us practising so we could learn the steps at home, and to see my hair that way...the way it moved on me, and the way it looked from all angles, I could see that though it was a great cut, it was actually really wearing me. I saw that it was too harsh and too angular on my face. And even though people complemented me on my hair all of the time, I could see that it was not quite right. So I grew it out....and I grew out my bangs (which took forever!) And now my hair is much softer and longer and more romantic. Now I think people see ME first instead of my hair. I love the chic bob, but I'll have to leave it for women with more chiselled, angular features to pull it off. In a way, it was a painful lesson, but I am so much happier now and I believe I look better.

Nikki, I have your hair! Including the cowlick at the back of the crown. I can so relate to this video.I love the curls with the curling iron, but I do know the toll a curling iron takes on our type of hair. Also the style you did near the beginning where it was pulled back in sort of a twist was really beautiful. I think I'll try the Bobbi pin on top today and see how it works. Thanks for making this video. ( My hair looks/works best in a shorter bob, but I've had that so much of my life I really want to have length. It has thinned so I'm trying to figure out what to do.)

I will be 40 this year and my hair has changed more times than I can count, in 2012, it almost all fell out and what I did have was very curly. In 2019, we got cvid before it was even a thing. I spent 2020 losing handfuls of hair a day and not knowing why. I do take some supplements now and eat a high natural fat diet and those things seem to help my hair. The style you like requires not just washed hair. 😉 I wear either a gibson girl or a gibson tuck, soemtimes a double gibson tuck. It lots of teasing but i love it. Both definitely work and look best on day 2 or 3 after washing, so i typically wash in the evening, let it dry, pin curl or wrap, sleep, fix my hair in the morning but dont leave home and then the rest of the week is nighly brush out, curl if i feel up to it braid if I dont, sleep, morning unravel and tease and style.

Thank you for sharing what you do now. I'm sorry for all the troubles you have had with yours. You're right, a wash and wear is no way to go for me.

In your older videos I thought you had extensions. I think your hair is so pretty the way you style it now. You always look so very traditional and wholesome and pretty.

I did have extensions and then learned they weren't for me. I left them behind when my youngest said "just be yourself mommy". Out of the mouths of babes...Thank you kindly!

I try sooooo hard to keep my hair down and fixed but inevitably it ends up in a bun on top of my head. Lol. Before I gave birth, I had really curly hair and it was super easy. Just add a curl cream and let it air dry. After birth....straight. It's been an adjustment for sure. I love the curls on you. Have you tried a setting lotion? I used to do hair professionally and using setting lotion will keep your curls for days. Worth a shot! I also love the half up on you! Lol...I should wait until the end of the video to comment...you mentioned setting lotion at the end. 🤣🤦♀️

I actually prefer your hair a little longer. Maybe because that is just what I am used to seeing. I also have fine, thin hair. It does look thicker with a shorter blunt cut but it doesn't seem to suit my face as well as when it is a little longer. But too long and it just looks scraggly. My favourite was the day you curled it with the tiny curling iron and you had on the pretty pink dress. But I can imagine that takes a lot of time. I currently have my hair in pin curls, but it is my first time and I forgot to put any product in my hair so we will see what happens.

You have such a beautiful face that you could be bald and still beautiful! I like it best when you pull your hair away from your face and up in the back. It suits your elegant look...

The more you stroke your hair and touch it, the curl will go. The oils of your hands and pull it down over and over will lose all the body.
