We just got a box full of antique dolls for $100. We just looked up a few dolls on top to make a decision and figured one could pay for the box. When we got home and looked at all the dolls individually, only one is worth $1000 or more so far. I agree on the take a chance sometimes when people are looking over your shoulder situations.

I bought a few sealed models at a yard sale for $5 each. Most only sold for $12-15. Hopefully you got some that will be higher in value. My best "risk" was when I first started sourcing as a reseller. I came across a lady at a yard sale with a large bin of Hallmark Ornaments. All from some family member and almost all stored in the original box. I paid $50 not knowing hardly anything about them. And that was a lot of money for me as a newbie!! Ended up that there were SO many ornaments in there, that each ornament came out to costing only thirty cents a piece! One of them I listed right before Christmas and sold almost instantly for $80. Not bad for someone who's still learning the game! :)

That's actually the best way to learn what sells. Now you have a good idea of what Hallmark ornaments are worth picking up. Good lessons ❤

For small but niche collections like that I always straight up ask the seller to point out the highest value item and then I’ll pick a second one using my limited knowledge and see what they amount to. That’s what helps me notch>aim>release my funds without too much consternation or fear.

When I have a yard sale, I make sure to have $100 in 😅$1 bills and $20 in coins, plus several fives and tens for change. When I am going to garage sales or flea markets, I bring lots of small bills and a few tens and twenties in case I make a bigger purchase. I think having change is the responsibility of both buyer and seller.

He told me some guy was supposed to come a couple hours ago to buy them all so I offered $400 for everything and it took some time but he accepted. All I could think was “man did I just make a mistake” but after all was said and done, I made over $1000 net profit in a couple months.

As a seller I usually carry 300 in change to a show. I appreciate people that are thoughtful enough to bring small bills.Early in the day I refuse 100 bills for 5~10 dollar items. Some sellers come into a show dead broke with no change and barely enough money to get there.

I like the plush and bag content 😂 but my favorite content is still the local goodwills. Also the vendors should have change but as a local and regular buyer I think its good practice to carry smaller notes that will help you get even better deals. Nothing more annoying when a buyer rocks up with a big note and clears out your smaller notes. Its a 50/50 hand in hand situation I feel. But always love the content 🤌

I dont see any comments on maybe its the responsibility of both parties to have change. Ive been buying and selling for over 30 years and its amazing how many small sales of 2 and 3 dollars and everyone is paying with a 20 dollar bill. As a buyer I want to hand the person 2 dollars and go to the next sale. Once it was 2 dollars and I handed her a 5 dollar bill and she said she had to go inside and get the change. It took her nearly 10 minutes. SO it just helps if everyone could be prepared to help themselves and each other.

Just depends on how approach bundle type negotiations. Some people are cut throat low ballers or respectfully "what's your lowest you'll take?" Get these off your hands. If your confident in the original deal just take time to assess what your getting into. Look up comps in front could be frowned on but you taking a risk. But you seem like it hopefully pan out for you.
