@@TheTrueRandomGamer It wasn't a "Volume 2"-- it was called "Rosario+Vampire Season II" because it was a continuation of the serialization in another magazine. But yeah, the manga was decent. It was great, in fact, compared to the anime adaptation. The "harem" aspect was also much more diminished in the manga compared to the anime-- that was a strange discovery for me.

Issei supports my theory that as a rule a harem anime protagonist should be a pervert as opposed to a generic nice guy. For several reasons, 1. Since being a pervert is a character flaw the writers have to give the protag more personality traits in order to flush him out, 2. Since the protag will active seek out fanservice instead of just stumbling on to it making the story less contrived, 3. Because the main character is actively seeking out perverted scenarios when he faces back lash for his actions it is justified because it was because of something he actually did as opposed to a misunderstanding, and 4. Usually the being a pervert will result in him being a more entertaining character than just generic nice guy who only exists as blank slate for the viewer to project on.

I started reading the light novel and I'm actually pretty surprised how much DxD was actually reworked to become a harem comedy. Don't get me wrong, the light novel has it's fair share of titillation, but it really does have a story to tell. But the anime and manga will slam on the breaks to break out some ecchi and they do indulge like the dickens.

One thing i absolutely adore about Highschool DxD is that the Harem aspect is integrated well into the lore and is done tastefully. Harem anime before DxD suffered from that weird ass trope where the Harem MC gets beat up/abused by the girls for no reason when he tries to date some other girl. DxD doesn't do that, Rias won't go out of her way to beat up or punish Issei if he spends time with Akeno or Asia, or Xenovia or any other woman. Sure, she does get jealous and does pick fights with the rest of the harem girls cuz she is kind of a spoilt princess but she won't harm Issei for engaging with his harem and actually treats the whole harem thing with respect. Which is understandable cuz polygamy is a celebrated custom in the Underworld cuz the Devil Faction lost majority of their forces in the Three Factions War and so encouraged polygamy to replenish the Devil population (also Devils and Fallen Angels have low birth rates due to inbreeding)

For the question of "who wins the Isseibowl", the answer is: everyone. After shitshow season 3(Studio interference, filler, badly adapting stuff, cutting out stuff, thats why season 4 is by another studio) Ishibumi had to do damage control and a sidestory with the trope of children from the future going into the past, iirc its revealed that Issei ended up banging the entire harem + a few extra girls. The series has more of a plot with later volumes but S3/S4 barely scratched that, sadly some of the best the series has to offer would have been in 5th season...which never happened.

Since then I've moved on to other stuff but I will always have a soft spot for DxD, like Berserk, which led me to your 20 hour Berserk video, and now we went full circle back to the thing that got me into anime and manga as a whole. Honestly I like that they actually do try and not completely fail at having a legit story here while also never getting rid of the tiddies. Most cases like this either phase out the fanservice to only focus on the plot, or pull a Maken Ki where they dropped whatever plot was going on in favor of slice of life fanservice moments, meanwhile DxD understands both have value and fans like both so they keep both.

Season 3 Born almost kill the series. Japanese fans and creator of high school DXD hate season 3 Born. Reason why beacuse TNK who did first three seasons did half ass job with season 3 they cut out lot of stuff from light novel.

​@@snknero9935 there are definitely a lot of issues with Born which warrants that kinda criticism. First of all scrapping the Rating Game with Sona Sitri. Then Rias and Issei's trial of their love i.e. whether or not Issei would be a better husband to Rias. There was supposed to be a Super Sentai sequence in that trial too. Then there was Akeno's date with Issei. In Born, Akeno goes on a date with Issei before Issei asks her out on a date, which chronologically makes no sense.

WHen it comes to Redo of Healer, it is mixed as you are not wrong but there is story there it is just buried and it helps to get the manga which explains more to it and more of his powers... but there is a lot of it and defending it as not what it is presented as would be wrong but there is stuff there. Interspecies is... well the manga is different then the show and there is a lot more thought but into it then there should be. TO try and make each species different and go over it.
