To be clear, Aristide was kidnapped by Canadian snipers and US marines and forced on a flight to the Central African Republic largely because he dared to menially raise minimum wage and wouldn't have protesters killed. Guildan activewear, based out of Montreal, has it's sweatshops in Haiti and was largely the reason why it wasn't even the US, but Canada, which spearheaded this takeover. The RCMP (royal canadian mounted police) and the OPP (ontario provincial police) went down and trained the Haitian military on just how the imperialists to the north wanted them to repress.

Stay with a high chance of not knowing if you are going to get to live for another day, watching corpses laying on the streets? with no realistic way of standing up without joining the statistics? Or leave everything you've ever known going somewhere else in hopes of having a dignified life, even if you end up left behind at least you did something to survive. No one leaves their homes, unless they need to, to "live". It's not different of moving of state or city, because housing is too expensive, there are better jobs somewhere else, or you are facing domestic violence, and/or insecurity. The gangs on Haiti don't care about anything but gaining supreme power, they won't change, they will burn even their own mother for power, this people have no morals. As neighboring countries, anything that affects Haiti affects all of us, because then we are going to have massive waves of people fleeing for a dignified life in our own countries, and the most humane thing to do is to help one another, not leaving them to their own luck.

It is intellectually, lazy to keep comparing Haitians and Ukrainians. The reason why the world stopped and helped Ukrainians is because it is their first time needing help on a global scale. Once this war is over, the vast majority of Ukrainians will go home Unfortunately, when you need international aid, year in and year out, eventually, you are just seen as a consistent burden. And let’s not forget the fact that a lot of these Haitians are now fluent in Spanish, because they originally escaped to south and Central America. So they already found a safe territory.
